Picked these up at BBY when they opened. Can't watch in DV as my Sony update is still 'out there' somewhere, wherever there is.
Red $14.99 sale. Red2 $17.99. Over in the HDR thread the HDR10+ naysayers are supposing that DV drives movie prices up. It has to be a fallacy based on the prices for these two movies on release date. EDIT: side note - no Blade Runner at my store, either. Closest copy in LA, 100 miles away. My local BB didn't get Red, Red 2, Cabin in the Woods, or Blade Runner 4K in on release day. There wasn't even designated shelf space anywhere for them. Same thing happened with Unforgiven 4K on release day.

I know the felling my local Best Buy didn't have Blade Runner 4K or Flash season 3 in any format. My local Walmart had Red 2 4K for 16.88

No playback issue, have the latest general FW installed, not the beta. No grey borders noted, but just HDR10 was played. |

Thinking about getting both but since this is Lionsgate, I guess this might see a combo pack release in the future. Only question is when? I thought both movies were alright, nothing special but enjoyable enough to warrent a buy.
Anyone care to comment on the PQ? |

I watched 6 minutes of Red before the disc crapped out on me. Opened the disc tray to find it had a massive deep scratch on it, annoying. I compared the first 6 minutes to the BD though to see if this was another 3:10 to Yuma and I am happy to report Red looks like a solid upgrade. A bit darker in the indoor morning scenes but in a natural way, and the other scenes look properly lit and without the red push. Detail looked improved as well, which is where the extra grain is coming from the review complained about. It looked lovely to me, not bad at all. Eager to get my replacement disc and might stop and get Red 2 at Walmart on Thursday after work.

I feel both of these films received pretty solid transfers. And, if it offers the possibilities of what Dolby Vision can do for catalogue titles--even if these are more recent--then I'm pretty stoked.
I loved the opening shootout of the first film. The muzzle flashes very incredibly bright, there was tons of shadow detail, and the contrasts were strong. |

It will also be beneficial with Rec 2020 content. |
