Do you think the move by Warner Brothers for Blu-ray pretty much is the beginning of the end for HD DVD? * 1427 responses

Not a scientific survey.

I love when these surveys have these little disclaimers. It is amazing how far you have to go to protect yourself from some frivolous lawsuit.

Blu will live for years to come!! RIP HD-DVD!!

...honestly though, is this a REALLY major blow for HD-DVD, or can they still come back (I hope the HD-DVD companies just give up)?

HD DVD could survive, but studios are in the business to sell movies, bottom line. With the lack of studio support its hard to get people to buy the console if there are no movies to watch on it, The PS3 had that problem in the first half of 2007 and they continued to show they were committed with the numerous price drops and the reconfiguration on the PS3 to make it affordable. now I see the games are starting to be developed and probably by the end of 2008 it will top or surpass the 360 in sales
here is the first half

Not too much surprising that. The problem is that they are self-delusional...

I mean really, they have been convincing themselves all along that cheaper was more important than actually being better... Their whole fabricated web of "reality" (at least their version of it) is coming crashing down.

I'm surprised that Amir isn't somewhere in a clock-tower with a rifle. After living in a false version of reality, most delusional people get violent when their "reality" is challenged

Classic.

Who's to say he isn't. If he's using a silenced weapon, so far he's been so off the mark he could be shooting all over the place and not coming close enough to alert anyone to his presence.

Not to mention that if its a microsoft weapon, it probably mis-fired... or had such a crappy user interface, he can't tell where the trigger is.

From what I just read here http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/news/ne...-blu-ray.phtml , Ken Graffeo is a narrow-minded HD-DVD fanboy who should be fired for holding back such titles as Back To The Future, Pitch Black, Jurassic Park...etc. from the winning Blu-Ray format.

He had to send it in for repairs after waiting for the box to arrive in the mail.

That was from 5 November 2007. Things are probably going to change at Universal in 2008 including Graffeo getting the boot or demoted.

I wonder how he'd answer this question now?

Q: How long to do you think it will take before HD DVD becomes the defacto high-def standard?

Graffeo: It’s too early to tell with the market being in this early stage, but as consumers continue to migrate to large HD displays, player prices continue to come down and the experience on HD DVD accelerates we feel very good about future prospects for the format
.

Isn't he aware that the red light isn't a laser scope or that a refurbished gun won't work?

Amir? Nah. He's got his "push HD Downloads now" orders from M$. He'll do whatever it takes now to keep earning his paycheque.
