One thing that really impressed me was the composite shot of Susan (posing as Sharon) walking in the park with her mother. I don't know if Disney found the original separated elements and recomposited them, but the background plate of the park looked just as sharp as the rest of the film. I don't remember it ever looking that good. I'm not the best to comment on audio quality since, at the moment, I'm only listening to audio through my TV speakers until I switch to a new surround system. From what I could discern, though, the track seemed to have greater clarity than its DVD. I distinctly remember that on DVD, the title song sung by Annette and Tommy Sands made the "s" sounds sound harsh ("Straighten out their mesh with togethernesh"), but they were crystal clear here. The relationship between the parents is more complex, too. In the original, they're constantly arguing, and it's all played for laughs until the end. In the remake, it's more sincere as you get the sense that these two people love each other but just couldn't find a way to make it work the first time around. I also think the supporting cast is more memorable. Chessy and Martin are great characters and make far more of an impression than Verbena and the grandmother. I think the best way to describe each one is that the original is a screwball comedy while the remake is more of a romantic comedy. Both excel at what they're aiming for, and I'm happy to own both of them at last in HD. Last edited by The Mad Kiwi; 05-14-2018 at 02:08 PM. |

Great Picture Quality on the Remake version. You can see every freckle on Lindsay Lohan's face. I was listening through headphones so it only sounded average to me. Still worth the hefty Disney Movie Club tax is you're a fan of family comedies.

I believe this decision was done a few years ago. I've typically ordered the newer titles a couple of times a year for the past few years and the last slip I received was for "The Love Bug," which was released in 2014...

Sooner or later they (Disney) will stop bringing out those "classic" movies on physical media - specially then when they're bringing up their own Streaming Service soon (next year?). And it will not available in every Country. That will be sure
