Thats a huge letdown, but it also looks like they have little faith in this movie doing well.

Woah, I didn’t even realize Warner Bros. had sold it to Netflix. It should have just been released originally when it was ready. It’s not like it’s going to do any better now than it would have done if they had released it closer to the Disney version.

Since there won’t be any 3D or other premium screenings, there is zero reason for me to see this in a theater since it will be on Netflix for the foreseeable future. I was looking forward to this too.

I feel bad for Andy Serkis.

The feedback was horrible, it was better financially for WB to take the money from Netflix, and write off the rest.

Huge update!

Mowgli is now playing in 3D at iPic Theaters. If you have an iPic theater near you, you might be able to see this 3D version.

iPic Theaters: California, Arizona, Washington, Texas, Illinois, Maryland, Florida, New York, New Jersey

Here's a recent quote from Andy Serkis:

"I’m really proud of the 3D. It works brilliantly. I’m not a big fan of 3D myself but I do really love it in this movie because we use it very conservatively until we wanted to use it dramatically in particular ways."

Things every 3D fan wants to hear from a director:

"I'm not a big fan of 3D"

"We used it conservatively"

I looked forward to this movie and now I refuse to watch it in any form, ever. Screw Gollum.

Is it so bad that you already never want to see it again, even in 3D?

I guess that's what you'd say if you were trying to get people who don't like 3D to see it?

It's a perfectly valid viewpoint to say Netflix don't have any respect for film, that's why it all kicked off at the Cannes film festival after all.

Even if you disagree with that view, you can't deny that Netflix have no respect for 3D cinema because the evidence is there for all of us to see. Or rather, not to see.

And which R and F words do you want to stop people using?

Watching it on Netflix... 10 minutes in, I'm surprised at how bad the CGI looks. Shere Khan looks really bad, Kaa is atrocious, the wolves are ok but cartoonist.. Baloo looks drunk and the best is Bagheera. But I'm really surprised, I expected better from Serkis and he had a large budget. Also, sounds like Benedict Cumberbatch is playing Shere Khan and he's hamming it up big time. Not sure I want to carry on, but will try another 20 mins...

I honestly had forgotten about this film, until I got NetFlix for Stranger Things 3. Huh. That kinda sucks.

I just watched this on Netflix. I'm a bit surprised a lot of you guys didn't like it. I thought it was much better than Disney's Jungle Book movies, neither of which I liked. I didn't even know this was in 3D, although I see I posted in this thread a while back. It would have been cool in 3D.

Yes, produced in 3D and unreleased in 3D.

Would be nice for this to be rectified somehow.
