Default Mowgli: Legend Of The Jungle (2018) [No 3D Blu-ray]

Moderator's Note: This title was moved to Netflix and is currently unreleased in 3D.

Looks great. Can't wait to see it in 3D.

Wow that looks incredible. I loved the live action Jungle Book. The kid that played Mowgli did it perfectly. This looks great too.

Looks like a rehashing of the previous one...this will fail to meet expectations as it lacks the charm of the original. Expect a Wrinkle in Time-type performance.

Too bad...I was looking forward to this one.

This looks like a darker version of The Jungle Book, which is more my style for this type of story. Andy Serkis (Gollum) is the director here, so I might check this out if the 3D is impressive.

I'll more than likely check this out.

I realize this is a labor of love for Serkis, but with The Jungle Book already hitting theaters and home video -- and being a pretty darned good film to boot -- my only question on this is ... Why?

While Netflix bought the movie, fortunately, we'll get a theatrical 3D release next year, since Serkis is wholly impressed with the format for the film.

I may check this out just to see for myself the quality of the 3d.

It should be noted that Disney still has plans to have the original director John Favrou make a sequel to their very successful Jungle Book film after their live-action Lion King is completed.

I'm not sure. Since it's now a Netflix movie, this getting a physical release is looking pretty slim (even standard Blu-ray).

I think releasing a 3D Blu-ray at least would be helpful (if it does get a 3D theatrical release and not everyone would get to see it).

The theatrical release will almost definitely be pretty limited. The big theatre chains have never been keen on blurring the line between exhibition and home viewing this way.

Will definitely be an odd circumstance. But Netflix has worldwide rights, so it really might be a one time opportunity to see this in 3D. That'll be a shame if, as stated above, bigger theaters won't show it.

Not sure how I feel yet about this one. It reminds me that I need to at least take the shrink wrap off the last live action Jungle Book and check it out.

In other words, WB did not feel that this would make much money theatrically. I don't believe that Netflix "Owns" this movie and will probably get a home video release by WB.

At least that's good to hear it'll get a 3D version. Hopefully with stronger 3D than the prior Jungle Book movie from Disney. But with Netflix, they sometimes release some of their stuff on disc video now and then if I'm not mistaken.

Let me remind you that "Stranger Things" is also a Netflix product and it is available in both Blu Ray and 4K elaborate software editions.

So what is to prevent a blu-ray or 4K OR 3-D disc release of a film that Netflix just happened to have "bought?"

I can't imagine this Serkis project being slighted in that way.

Fair point, but it rarely happens. This is also a huge film, so getting a physical release shouldn't be far-fetched.

The answer to your question is that Netflix doesn’t steam in 3D but it does stream in 4K & 1080p. Therefore if they released Mowgli in 3d that would be a first.

And now you know...and knowing is half the battle!

Not really a first, as NF was streaming 3D until 2017 when they joined the others in the 2017 End 3D mission. They COULD present it in 3D but most likely will not. As for a disc release, has Paramount offered a BD for Cloverfield Paradox? It could be years before a disc release happens, if at all. Hope I'm wrong.

Netflix releases their TV shows on disc, but not their movies. I don't think a single one of their movies has been released on disc. There are some really good ones too.

What happened to Monday was a Netflix movie right? That has a physical release in several countries.
