Therefore, you men of HD-DVD,
Take pity of your town and of your people,
Whiles yet my soldiers are in my command;
Whiles yet the cool and temperate wind of grace
O’erblows the filthy and contagious clouds
Of heady murder, spoil, and villany.
If not, why, in a moment, look to see
The blind and bloody soldier with foul hand
Defile the locks of your shrill-shrieking daughters;
Your fathers taken by the silver beards,
And their most reverend heads dash’d to the walls;
Your naked infants spitted upon pikes,
Whiles the mad mothers with their howls confus’d
Do break the clouds, as did the wives of Jewry
At Herod’s bloody-hunting slaughtermen.
What say you? will you yield, and this avoid?
Or, guilty in defence, be thus destroy’d?

Even though its not from a movie, but it is from a politician (I thought it sounded just right).

"“That war damaged over a million people -- they're damaged from inferior picture and sound, ... This format for the last two years has let those men rot.”

This is an oldie from avs by eightninesuited.

In a somewhat ironic twist, a couple of weeks after this picture went out, Warner announced a matrix box-set exclusive to HD DVD. Mr Nickerson's largesse to the red format, I presume.

Here's one of my favorites.

Serendipity (Disney):

Fitting epitaths to the format that finally bows out gracefully.
(1) The conspiracy theorists
Yet even in certain defeat, the courageous Trager secretly clung to the belief that life is not merely a series of meaningless accidents or coincidences. Uh-uh. But rather it's a tapestry of events that culminate in an exquisite, sublime plan.

(2) The philosophical
You know the Greeks didn't write obituaries. They only asked one question after a man died: "Did he have passion?"

Here's another :

Wrath of Khan.

Spock to Universal : Were I to invoke logic, however, logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

Spock & Kirk to Universal (again)
Spock: Don't grieve, Admiral. It is logical. The needs of the many outweigh...
Kirk: ...the needs of the few.
Spock: ...Or the one.

----
The rest :
Starship Troopers.

Rallying cry by cheerleaders from either side.
We must meet this threat with our courage, our valor, indeed with our very lives to ensure that human civilization, not insect, dominates this galaxy *now and always*!

---

Independence Day

In the Opera House, to all who claim to have spotted the fat lady making her way to the stage.
Captain Steven Hiller: I ain't heard no fat lady!
David Levinson: Forget the fat lady. You're Obsessed with fat lady. Just get us out of here!

From the "can't we just get along" crowd to the combatants
Julius Levinson: All you need is love, John Lennon, smart man, shot in the back very sad.
---

Pirates of the Caribbean - curse of the back pearl (BD)

A possible future outcome in a continuum of infinite universes.
Will Turner(HD DVD): You didn't beat me. You ignored the rules of engagement. In a fair fight, I'd kill you.
Jack Sparrow (BD): That's not much incentive for me to fight fair, then, is it?

Rocky Horror Picture Show (Fox)

From blu owners in early February (of 2007) - more appropriate Jan 4th 2008.
Because I've seen blu skies, through the tears in my eyes. And I realize, I'm going home

----

Devil Wears Prada (Fox)

Perhaps from BDA to the fence sitters.
Oh... ok. I see, you think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select out, oh I don't know, that lumpy blu sweater, for instance, because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back. But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blu, it's not turquoise, it's not lapis, it's actually cerulean. You're also blindly unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar De La Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves St Laurent, wasn't it, who showed cerulean military jackets? And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of 8 different designers. Then it filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic casual corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blu represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and so it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room. From a pile of stuff.
