I don't actually know what was censored (I never saw it that way) so I'm doing a bit of guessing, but the show would be considered very non-PC these days. For one it was violent -- lots of bad guys get killed. And two, it wasn't "racially sensitive" by today's standards. Bad guys were almost always non-white, and our heroes pick off brown-skinned baddies by the score. Hadji was one of our heroes, but other than him. life was pretty cheap if you weren't part of the Quest family group!

Haven't seen it in years -- but I LOVED it growing up in the 60's and early 70's. It was my absolute favorite. Love to see it again in all it's non-PC glory.

Just racism essentially.

I never bought the DVD collection after learning it was edited. However, I did buy the streaming edition offered by Amazon some years ago and there were no cuts to the audio. The ending credits, however, were apparently taken from a single episode and were always the exact same, except for in maybe one instance.

As far as this announcement, this is fantastic news. I really got my money's worth out of that streaming edition and find myself watching episodes regularly. There is not a bad episode in the bunch. I will certainly buy this Blu-ray collection.

I would love a set featuring all 12 Scooby series on Blu (13 if you count Laff-a-lympics)! And the set could include the five TV movies from Goes Hollywood to Arabian Nights. I think the DTV movies should get a separate set. Also, back to Jonny Quest, I would love to get the 80s series and movies, as well as The Real Adventures series from the 90s since I still have not seen that one!

As much as I hope it's uncensored, remember this the company that has cancelled T&J and a planned censored 11 release, and those are recommended for the 'adult collector'. So this being a kids show, I can't hold any expectations.

It's been mentioned several times in this thread that these episodes will be uncut and from the original broadcast prints.

I wouldn't get these otherwise. It's the selling point for me.

I always thought the censoring was really intrusive and never bought the DVDs until just recently. On those it is really only two lines that are removed, one from two different episodes. So it will be a very easy and corrective thing to do.
The bigger issue is the lack of proper original credits for each episode as they simply used the same credits on 25 of the 26 shows. I also never knew there was an opening announcer bumper tag with the logo until reading the JQ fan site so it would be nice to see that restored as I always felt it weird that the opening credits had no title card.

The TV movies, 80's shows and Real adventures series are all available via WAC DVD. I need to try some of those as I've never seen any of them save for the few Real Adventures shows I saw as a kid. The first RA volume is a standard WB DVD release and dirt cheap.

I can't believe JQ hit Blu-ray before classic Scooby-Doo but this would be a nice indicator for WAC to do SD themselves. A complete all iteration SD set or series release has been LONG overdue, especially since the other shows have appeared for purchase on streaming sites but are not on disc outside of random shows on compilation DVDs. And there are some that are still totally unavailable. If the regular studio division did SD it would likely be the complete series DVD set in 1080p. WAC would hopefully do new transfers and release each iteration. There has been discussion that for the new masters on DVD/syndication much of the original color was changed.

Given that next year is the 50th anniversary, I think there is a good chance we could see Scooby Doo. Also since this was Comic-Con I'm not surprised that JQ was announced here, going in we had a hint that it could be that.

The New Adventures were very good IMO, Real Adventures was pretty good but different though it did have its fair share of backlash in the day. It was disappointing Real Adventures got canceled so early.

Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? Season 2 Intro (Restoration Comparison) - YouTube
Just from looking up Cels from "Where Are You?!", the right kinda looks more fitting because of the nighttime blue but at the same time cels aren't the best source since they can change over time, if not properly stored. The left seems like it was taken more from an older telecine that perhaps used a 16mm source, or duped from an old tape that was duped from a 16mm source, which in theory, would technically be more "original" since most TV shows from that era used 16mm prints for broadcast before tapes became more common. "Scooby-Doo", at least the original series, may been shot on 35mm. Hopefully a Blu Ray remaster can settle the argument.

Cool. I never thought they would put this on Blu-Ray. I'd love to see them put Hanna-Barbera's The Pirates of Dark Water on Blu-Ray as well.

I'll be picking this up for sure. The original JQ is definitely BD-worthy material. Now, if only Thundarr could get the royal treatment, the world would be perfect.

I bought Jonny Quest on DVD a couple of years ago. It looks very good upscaled. I wonder if there will be an appreciable difference in quality.
