From around 23.30 minutes into the film it changes from 2.35:1 to 1.85:1 just before Tom Cruise jumps out of the plane. When he lands (around 27.00 mins) it goes back to 2.35 again. Then near the end of the film when Cruise gets into the helicopter, it goes to 1.85 again and during the scenes in between with the other actors, it jumps back to 2.35 and carries on like that until the end of the film.

I've replayed the scenes over and over and the ratios change at exactly the same point every time, so it's not a random thing. I'm thinking it's an issue with the disc, but I'd be interested to know if anybody else has had this problem?

Thats normal mate, it was shot in the Imax format so we get the shifting formats.

I agree, it's an excellent film in my view and I've enjoyed all the previous Mission Impossible movies as well. I haven't seen any of the extras on the other disc, nor listened to the commentary either, but I'll get round to that fairly soon.

That’s a good option too, I ordered it and a few others from Mario when the 10% offer was running a few days ago but if I hadn’t I would likely go for that listing.

Absolutely. I'd also recommend listening to the Spoiler Specials the Empire Podcast did with Chris McQuarrie which are quite illuminating. You'll need about 6 spare hours though!
