I believe that i still have the earlier BD release some years back so doubt i will double dip or the same if this had different cover and features maybe i would then.

If I didn't already have any of the previous releases and I was in FOMO mode then without a doubt, the WB UK edition is a perfectly good option. It's now Ł4.99.
Don't see it dropping much lower unless buying a used copy.
Otherwise, you'll be demonstrating a lot of patience and faith between now and 2023 for the 30th anniversary to be delivered proper.
Should that come to fruition, it won't be without a 4K UHD edition and I expect that one will look stunning.
Maybe that's why Sony has it now, maybe they worked out a deal to handle a new 4K scan of the film?

Yeah this movie will get the release it deserves someday, too much of a fanbase not to... and I am willing to wait.

Perhaps WB will see fit to give this one a 4K release at some point in the near future?
The BD has all the DVD stuff, I only kept the dvd cuz it's packaging is worth more to me than the $2 the used store offered.

This is sadly, mostly true. The roller coaster/amusement park scene is the only thing I can say looks better on the blu, the rest is all toss-up.

No, Best Buy has it for sale online only. I already have the Warner release so I would only dip again for a 4K UHD version. Great Tarantino esque film one of Tony Scott's best films with The Last Boy Scout being right up there with True Romance imo.

I thought he was a producer based on Don Simpson.

It was a big upgrade for me just because the old Australian DVD was a windowboxed, smeary washed out mess that looks worse than VHS

I've always thought it was poking fun at either Don Simpson or Jerry Bruckheimer

That review bummed me out. I saw the title and instantly wanted to buy it because I thought it was still out of print, but then I saw that video quality rating... yikes.

I heard it was a shot at Joel Silver, who Tony Scott had just worked with on The Last Boy Scout.

"In a 2008 Maxim article, it is revealed that the character of Lee Donowitz, played by Saul Rubinek, was envisioned as a portrayal of Producer Joel Silver by Director Tony Scott. The two had just worked together on The Last Boy Scout (1991). Scott hated working with Silver during the making of that film, and they both had problems with Bruce Willis."

"Silver even called the making of The Last Boy Scout (1991) to be "one of the three worst experiences in my life". When Scott told Rubinek that he "got Joel exactly right" during his audition, Rubinek had no idea who Joel Silver even was. In the article, Scott is quoted as saying: "The Hollywood satire is affectionate, but Joel didn't talk to me for a long time after that."

It's been stated that the way the blu ray transfer looks is very close to how the actual 35mm prints look I guess. "Grain free" film stock was apparently used to shoot the film. I always thought the blu ray transfer was processed to shite until I read that from someone who saw it at the New Beverly Cinema.

If you look at the blu ray transfer closely it doesn't look processed really at all.

I can't tell - it sounded like the PQ was the same, but it has a different audio track and this review scored the audio way higher than the review for the WB disc.
