Criterion posted a clip from one of their Godzilla movies on instagram and somebody comented if they were making a box set with them all. They replied with a winky face.

On what day did they post this?! I follow Criterion on Instagram and I have seen no clips from any of the Godzilla films.

Wow, this is awesome to hear, BIOS is one of the best fifties sci-fi films, along with When Worlds Collide, The Time Machine, This Island Earth, and Forbidden Planet. And yeah, technically Time Machine was released in 1960, but still filmed at least somewhat in mid 1959 or so. Would be nice if they eliminate some of the obvious wires during the end battle. The Japanese version is the only version to watch for my liking.

Oops, accidentally left out Godzilla, G is awesome of course.

It will happen, it's just a matter of when.

Best Buy is now saying this title will be released on October 2nd. I'll stick with Amazon for the present. Eventually I think the darn thing will ship.

The movie is now unavailable to buy or pre-order on Amazon. We’ve had enough trouble with other Godzilla blu-rays, please don’t let this be another one that’s a pain.

the US version is owned outright by Columbia so that at least shouldn't be an issue. now if they want to use the japanese version or anything other than the US trailer then they have to deal with Toho and we know that can be a pain.

Funny thing, but Criterion had planned six Godzilla releases on laserdisc back in the day, but they were cancelled when the LD market started to become extinct. They only released three more LDs after that point (late 1998).

The six they had planned were: Gojira, Godzilla King of the Monsters, Godzilla vs. Mothra, Godzilla vs. Monster Zero, Godzilla's Revenge, and Terror of MechaGodzilla.

I got an email that the shipping for this title has been delayed. They do not know when it will be sent.

Default Well, that was fast!

I got another email this morning that said it has been shipped. I wonder if their supply was late getting to them with all the crazy rain we've had lately.

When you get it in, please let us know if it has the Japanese cut of the film. That's what I'm waiting on before I order.

I believe those titles were all owned by UPA, which is why you see a lot of cases of the same company releasing all of them, give or take a couple titles -- Simitar in 1998 or so, Classic Media in 2002 and again in 2006-2007, and now they're all held by, or at least licensed to, Criterion. They tend to all change hands together; I don't know if they're a package deal or it just happens that way.

i'm sure if the rights holder for those titles is the same entity then negotiating the rights for all as a package is the way it's done. makes the most sense from a business perspective.

We haven't had any rain here, but my order for BIOS on Amazon has been marked "We don't know when... etc", for quite awhile now. In fact, it still says that, but at the top of the listing it now also states "Preparing for Shipment," which is a big change. I assume it's about to ship.

This is beginning to remind me of the Ready Player One fiasco on Amazon last month.

Same here. Today I got an update saying that it should arrive on Friday (I have Prime).

Just got my copy. It includes Japanese and English audio, but only the Columbia version of the film. It has the Columbia opening and English credits. It does not include the Toho version like the DVD did.
