And yet, if it hadn't been pointed out that it was the ending (by you rather than me), it would simply be taken as a shot of two lovers reaching for each other since there was no other context to the image. Hardly needlessly spoiling anything or bad manners for all the dramatic posturing in its wake, though I'm sure even the removal of the review won't stop the outraged posturing it invoked.

I've been waiting a long time for the Blu-ray version of ROBIN AMD MARIAN---a great cast, a great score by John Williams.....anda disappointing ending.
I hope the Blu-ray version has a lot of special features and commentaries.

Now where are the Blu-ray versions of THE THING (original), HEAVEN CAN WAIT (remake), TRUE LIES, THE WAR OF THE WORLDS (original), THE FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX (original) and THE LONGEST YARD (original)?

This one is held up by having totally crap elements left, from what I have read.

You didn't pay a lot of attention to the film if you think the score is by John Williams.

Yes, this film's score is pure John Barry through and through.

It would be cool if they could include the original score by Michel Legrand as an alternate track.

The producer took the film over from director Richard Lester, and replaced Legrand's score, which Lester was very happy with. He hated the resulting Barry score, but had no control over it.

I LOVE the Barry score, it's one of my favorites, so I tend to think Lester was wrong here. The Legrand score has been released on CD, but I'd love to compare them both in context in the film.

Not through and through: after junking Legrand's score, Ray Stark insisted on adding a few action cues by Richard Shores to Barry's replacement score.

Lol, okay, but what I meant is that the musical style is unmistakably Barry’s and sounds nothing like John Williams (those cues by Shores notwithstanding).

It's pretty much SOP these days for Amazon to list forthcoming titles, get pre-orders in and then pull the listing and put the bite on the distributor for a bigger percentage by saying "Look at all these orders you'll lose if you don't give us more than we originally agreed."

It's probably postponed instead of cancelled but it's Sony so it very well could be cancelled for good.

People ***** about everything these days because they think the world revolves around them. Whether it's gender identity or movie spoilers, we live in an era of spoilt brats.

The photo in question was made available by Columbia as part of the original publicity materials for the film. Nobody complained back in '76. I actually have a book on the films of Sean Connery and, yes, it is there.

Nobody complained back when they caught the ending of the movie on the telly (it happened all the time). Actually, it encouraged them to watch the whole thing next time around, or rent it.

99% of the time a thread like this is going to mean a bunch of old-timers talking about an old favourite but there's always the new kid who feels "offended" because the grownups treat him like a little kid.
