Actually, am I the only one that overlooked the fact that the HD DVD PRG conference today would talk about ONLY Universal. What about Paramount? Seems a little suspect...

i would of thought it would have been out by now.

i have a feeling universal or paramount are ready to go public real, real soon and they are telling the HD DVD PG not to put their names in the PR (because it will make them look bad) or something to that extent. HD DVD PG can't release a statement without mentioning both of those studios or else its all over and they would want to be the last people on earth to make it that obvious there were more major switches.

So basically I need to prepare for a load of BS like the lady that talked about HD DVD the other day at the CES. ok... preparing to hear just how stable HD DVD is and that they plan on pressing on in being the next High Def format.

I too am worried this might happen, but I hope clearer, cooler heads prevail.

Let em keep fighting. HD-DVD is losing 125 movies, 3 of which are in the top 10 for them with the WB move. In contrast, Universal has 140 movies released for HD-DVD.

As of right now, the media bonanza surrounding the WB move and equating HD-DVD to betamax has certainly scared away new buyers. People are abandoning HD-DVD (see ebay). Once you are labeled a failure by the media, it's hard if not impossible to go back. The only people still buying HD-DVD are the folks too heavily invested to get out. Software sales will reflect this and help perpetuate the Betamax comparisons.

Then come May, HD-DVD will lose its best studio.

HD DVD is being Al Gore'd by the media. Except in this case, HD DVD isn't the best candidate and deserves it.

im sorry, gore had the majority of the vote, hd dvd did not

this would be more liek a reagan/dukakis thing where we knew the whole time one side was winning, but didn't realize how bad the other side got salughtered til the results came in.

OK, I see that. I was just referring to the whole "Invented the Internet" BS we were subjected to.

Did HD DVD put on a helmet 3 times too big and hop into a tank? LOL!

Contrary to unsubstantiated rumors from unnamed sources, Universal's current plan is to continue to support the HD DVD format," said Ken Graffeo, executive vice president of HD strategic marketing for Universal Studios Home Entertainment and also co-president of the HD DVD Promotional Group.
The response would have come sooner, but many HD DVD executives were on flights home from CES when the incorrect story from Variety broke.
That's it!

In otherwords they're going at least neutral and Paramount aren't mentioned.

Variety reports that Universal Studios has ended its HD DVD exclusivity deal, though it will continue to only support the format until its current arrangement with Toshiba ends May 31. The report did not indicate whether Universal will exclusively support Sony's Blu-ray format after that date. Speaking to GameSpot, a Universal Studios representative confirmed that, for the time being, the studio will continue to support HD DVD, though they would not say whether Blu-ray support is also on the agenda.

Heh, they never denied that Universal would go neutral just that they wouldn't go Blu-ray exclusive.

Duh!
