wow, that is crazy... it was sealed with those god awful stickers and everything? or was is just shrink wrapped?

Scary to think their quality control is THAT bad. That's obviously not a disc that should have made it to retail... To answer your original question, I've never had anything even remotely like that happen to me with any BD I've bought. They'd all come out of the package in pristine condition. Hope you have no problems getting a replacement disc.

OMG.... that looks horrible.
did the disc holder broken (like my pan's labyrinth has the disc holder broken, meaning the disc can move around the case freely - and I noticed some scratch, but it worked fine though)?

No, the case was in perfect condition on the outside and the disc was seated properly when opened. I didn't notice any of the damage until i took the disc out and looked at the bottom because my player wouldn't read it at all.

ya, as I posted in the previous post... my SAW IV was horrible right out of the package. It almost looked like someone took it off the line at the pressing plant and pressed their fingers all over the bottom part of the disk and put it back. Wal*Mart took it back no problem and i exchanged it for another copy (LAST One TOO!) this one was FLAWLESS like it should be!

I own close to 300 blu-rays and they've all been fine. I have had a couple with one of the center spokes on the case broken off so the discs was loose in the case but the disc itself still worked fine.

Just find it rather weird that a factory sealed case would have no disk at all in it.
Had that happen long ago, a movie from target, "The Rock" (reg dvd) ... and they didnt want to do anything for me, as if I stole it, and was requesting the exact same one :P ... after enough *****ing I got another.

Looks like QC and QA on the production line are not checking their work.

question....

i think i have a defective disc. i purchased POTC:AWE a while back and just finally got to watching it. at a certain same point three times in a row, suddenly my tv would turn off. i think its something to do with the video signal being mistaken by the tv to signal it to turn off. has anyone else had this problem with any blu's ... or more importantly with this one..

thanks yall

I've had a handful of DVD's come off the spindle in shipping and get all scratched to hell. I've had a couple of Blu-rays have the same thing happen, not a single scratch. The only defective Blu-ray I've gotten was a rental that was cracked on the edge, so I'm guessing that was a handling defect rather than a manufacturing one.

Nearing 300 discs, not one defective disc yet. Though I do buy mostly new discs that are factory sealed. The only problem I've ever had was that on one BD case the plastic slipcover peeled off. I think the discs are tougher than the cases.

i think it might all be writing problems, because there is a thick protection coating on blu-ray discs.
