I’m going against the grain with this one, it’s a strange blend of high concept rom-com you would get in the late nineties, with an edgeless political satire with standard Seth Rogen bad behaviour comedy. It’s not entirely worthless, but outside a couple scenes it’s nothing you haven’t seen before done better. And the entire film never comes together as a whole, particularly with it’s fairytale plot mechanics.

Saw it last night in a crowded showing. Went in with low expectations and enjoyed it immensely. I laughed quite a bit and felt the chemistry was great between Rogen and Theron. I'll be adding to my collection.

Glad to hear it, both that you enjoyed it and that it was crowded. I know from interviews that the two of them have been trying to make this for quite a long time. Things just kept getting in the way.

Probably has something to do with the chemistry, actually.

I'll be seeing it this weekend, sometime.

Didn't like it. The leads were good, and the set-up had potential, but it was all wasted. In an earlier time, that set-up might have been a starting point for a romance with sharp dialogue and some clever political satire thrown in. Instead of that we get a man
[Show spoiler]cumming on his own face and Charlize Theron saying "F**k me in the butt."
Hilarious.

I miss the days went "comedy" meant clever writing, not junior high level sleaze.

I saw it today and enjoyed it much. But its the sort of humor I love that people hate. But raunchy romcoms are up my alley. Thought Rogen and Theron were great together. As was Ice Cube's son too. O'Shea.

I don’t normally watch Seth Rogan movies but since this was a rom-com with Charlize I decided to go. I actually enjoyed the movie. The soundtrack was fantastic.

Thought this was fairly funny and enjoyable when its political bias didn't get in the way.

Watched today...

Wow...I didn’t even recognise Andy Serkis ..... to me he reminded me of someone ‘else’... Steve Bannon... that ugly look.

Look you go into this film knowing that it’s going to be a comedy....

.... and there were some scenes which had me laughing ...the scene with Serkis and Theron with the President....

Don’t worry about the two hours..... it’s not padded out.

Rank Long Shot, Dave and The American President.

I think this film is a little better which gets it 1.5 stars.

I'm seeing this tomorrow, early afternoon. Can't wait. A cast I love, and I know that Theron and Rogen really tried to get this made for a while. I have a feeling they will work well together. It should be a fun time all around.

4 out of 5. I laughed out loud in several spots. But you need to suspend disbelief before going into theater.

That's usually the case with, oh, about 95% of all movies

I vacillated between 3-1/2 and 4, and went with 3-1/2. But I still can't really decide.

I definitely enjoyed it, and the lead performances were very fun. Also, I laughed a lot. It was definitely funny. Rom-coms are not my general genre choice, but I liked this one.

I really liked their chemistry. Fun stuff.

Agree across the board.

Also, and I know this happens all the time, but there were a TON of lines in the trailer that didn't make it into the film. I mean, usually a scene here, a few lines there. But in this case it was very noticeable.

Anyway, very enjoyable film with two adorable leads. Oh, and June Diane Raphael was awesome as Margaret. She's one of those actresses who's been working pretty much constantly for a while, but is not really the lead. It was nice to see her get a good role here, too. She was great.

I didn't care for it either, as much as the intent of the movie was pairing two unlikely people together - it still seemed fake and shallow. I'm tired of Rogen playing these 'man-dweebs' he deserves a lot better. The one person that did surprise me was O'Shea Jackson Jr. he stole every scene he was in, he's funny, charming and very likeable.

Talking about sleaze comedy - nearly everyone at the screening I was at HATED the trailer for 'Good Boys' - one patron yelled "trash" after it ended - the death of comedy

As to Seth deserving better, as I understand it he and Charlize worked for a long time to get this made. It's not like he was lassoed into the role, or something. He was playing the role he wanted to play. And his character has an arc, anyway. It's not like he ends up right where he began. Same as in Knocked Up for instance.
