Picked up the French 4K (from Amazon.es of all places) and it completely locks up on the OPPO at the 39m38s mark. Total freeze, it won’t play past that point. Popped the disc into the Panny 820 and it plays that part fine (though not got to the dreaded 54m mark yet) but I’m using the OPPO because I can add English subs, can’t do that on the Panny so it’s a bit of a lame duck this one. Worth a punt at £20 though, and at least I can carry on watching the BD with English subs on the OPPO.

A bit sad though that you have to juggle between discs and players to be able to watch the film in full!

This is why I rip the discs and watch them. 1 in 10 discs I purchased recently had some playback issue.

I wish I had the hardware (and knew how) to do that! Still, that shouldn't be required.

Wow... The recent firmware update on my Sony X800m2 has taken care of the lock up / freeze at the 54th minute too. Wow. Just wow.

OPPO being the odd one out for a corrective update, natch, as it's the only one of my players that can add external subtitle files.
