Are they pretty quick when it comes to recieving your returns and sending you new ones? Does it end up being cost effective?

Depends on where you live. With me, I put my returns in the mail on Monday, and get my new movie in the mail on Wed. Can't beat that.

BB sucks for many reasons, not just the current HDM issue.

Don't jump ship just yet. I'm still waiting to get Live Free or Die Hard and The Simpsons Movie on BD. The customer service rep at Netflix said that they are not buying alot of BD and HD-DVDs at the moment. If they buy 500,000 plus of a title on DVD, they're only buying 2,500-5,000 copies of it on BD. I was going to cancel my order this week because it's been almost two weeks since they sent me a BD movie. They finally sent WAR on BD to me yesterday.

Netflix is great when it comes to DVDs, but they are taking their sweet time with getting BD in the mail.

That sucks, maybe I should just put the money towards blind buys based upon reviews from this site. It's starting to sound like that would be my best bet

Thank you etercion for your insight to this whole rental business. I really appreciate it. I've been waiting for my local Blockbuster to got Blu for a while now. I completely understand that it's not the employee in the store that has control over what movies are in there. I have a part-time job at a retail store on top of making corporate videos and i fully know very well what kind of BS some customers try and hold over your head trying to blame you for a minor inconvenience of a product not in stock. La de fricken da. It's not in stock so go to another store or wait. People are all about instant gratification now and even instant isn't fast enough. Nobody has patience today. Alright I've ranted enough. Again, thank you etercion.

Fair enough, but I have to counteroffer that, Netflix decided that 1 1/2 weeks per movie was a okay shipping date over and over and over for everything I ordered, and there lack of customer care, it seemed more useful to talk to a wall.

I never plan to do buisness with Netflix again.

I don't know anybody else. But I mailed mine back on Sunday which probably don't get picked till Monday and the movies were received by them Today which is Thursday. with Netflix the movies are usually received by the very next day and new one got sent out that same day. (Netflix pick up all their mails directly from Postoffice though Blockbuster probably has them delivered.).

Okay well ive used both services this is how I saw it.
First off I live in Arlington Texas which is between Fort Worth and Dallas.

Netflix:
Usually took 3 days for titles that were local couple cities over.
Usually took 7 days to 14 days to receive titles from Florida or Mississippi.

The titles coming from Florida and Mississippi, 25% of the time were either completely broken into small pieces, snapped in half or, were partly snapped.

I found alot of stuff I ordered was not at my local distribution center this process of netflix becoming self aware usually took 3 days. Upon that I would receive notification of the title being sent from either Florida or Mississippi.
From there 7 days to 14 days it would take.

This got really annoying when ordering entire seasons of Gundam or various other shows for they sent it by disc by disc, and waiting 7 or so days made it difficult as specially when there were only 4 episodes on a disc.

Blockbuster:
Usually took 1-3 days regardless of the title.
A few times sometimes in my query would be marked Out of Stock, and they were just move onto the next item in my query.

The big problem here is if you order a whole series you may receive another disc that is one ahead in the series, forcing you to lose your place.

Also in rare cases there automatic feature that orders a whole season of something, might not put them in the correct order, I ran into that on the Magic Knights RayEarth Series. I think it was the second season.

Default Blockbuster Blu Ray Display

I went into Blockbuster today to see what new titles they had for rent. To my surprise as I walked in they had a big display for Blu Ray. It was a foursided kiosk. On the front was a Sony LCD tv(not sure of the size) with a PS3 beneath it playing Fantastic Four:Rise Of The Silver Surfer. On either side were controllers and other accessories, on the back they had a few Blu titles for sale. It's nice to see them promoting Blu in the manner they are.

I couldn't find Man On Fire at any BBs near me and was told that BB didn't get any MOFs at any stores. That sucks!
