And the same could be said for all movies, not just Marvel. Very very very rarely is there a movie with a genuine twist that you can't see coming about 10-15 minutes before it happens. Let's not pretend Marvel is more paint-by-numbers than anything else.

It's a family collection (hence the Justin Bieber blu-ray in the list). Others don't share same opinion as me.

Personally I enjoy the odd mindless popcorn flick, so they serve that purpose admirably. Even if I tend to have trouble remembering a damn thing about them, even after multiple viewings.

People love a success story, but I think they enjoy the fall from grace even more.

So how come you rated Avengers: Endgame (2019) five out of five in the poll about it and four out of five in another recent post? Do you change opinions so fast? Or was it another family member behind it? Just curious!

'Hate' is a strong word, I don't really feel it anywhere.

If you want to criticize the MCU films, there are plenty of legitimate access points for that without resorting to hateful language. For one, most of the films have pretty much the exact same act structure, story beats and character arcs. Similar scores, similar cinematography, similar editing.

One of the few differences I notice between the films, differences in where the chosen directors and writers are given room to experiment and/or indugle in their own creative toolbox, is in tone and humor.

Your last statement here is quite interesting and makes a big point. The MCU films are probably fun but immediately forgettable. No staying power. They’ll fade from memory quickly. That’s the difference between MCU movies and something like Star Wars, LOTR, Alien/Aliens, The Matrix, etc.

The MCU films are huge money makers and do put on quite a show. But they are pretty empty as far as intrigue and all that stuff is concerned. They aren’t hated, they just don’t matter anymore and not that much time has passed. Like I said, zero staying power and no longevity. Already out of mind.

There's two main reasons:

1. Snotty "cinema connoisseurs" who cry about the unwashed masses taking up theater screens.

2. Burning jealousy that [Insert their favorite franchise here] hasn't had the success of the MCU.

This. Now that Avengers Endgame is the biggest movie of all time, fanboys of those other comic book movie franchises are even more triggered.

The MCU has not faded from my memory. I really do not care what people think about these movies 30-40 years from now. As I do not care what people think about the movies you mentioned now. All that matters is my experience. In my experience no franchise will ever top what the MCU has done.

That’s a bunch of bullshit.

I continually replay moments from Avengers: Endgame in my head. It brings a smile to my face, while thinking about other scenes still bring a tear to my eye.

The MCU may have faded away from your memory quickly, but certainly not from mine.

Because it's an easy target. It's big, it's ubiquitous, it's visible.

Honestly I think people get from MCU what they no longer get as much from TV. Now that many people binge-watch everything, there's no emotional momentum on streaming TV. Instead of spending months with characters and their relationships, people spend, like, a day or a weekend and then it's done for a year. MCU, on the other hand, offers regular doses of characters and dramas. And if most of them don't have much passion and don't risk much, they're at least consistent. People know what they're getting. It's familiar. It's comfortable. It's a fun couple hours spent with a growing network of old friends and familiar faces.

And if at this point, 11 years in, people are still going to MCU flicks hoping for ****ing Scorsese or something, joke's on them. These are well-crafted, mass-produced entertainments, not the Criterion channel. Expecting more than mild deviations from the successful formula would be like sitting down to a Friends episode hoping for The One Where Phoebe MacGyvers her way out of a Torture Chamber, or The One where Ross Goes the Full Monty. Going into a product under an established brand and then complaining that it's not something different than it is is kind of silly at this point.

Impossible.

Everyone in the world loves the MCU and masterpieces like "Thor: Ragnarok".

DC Comics sucks.
Superman: The Movie, The Dark Knight, Doom Patrol, Watchmen.... naaah. Boring.

Apples and oranges. It's not MCU versus all DC properties. It's MCU vs DCEU. DCEU has only finally started to become interesting now that they've stopped trying to be their own MCU and started releasing more offbeat films.
