I never have either. I'm thinking of blind buying it. If I don't like it, I figure the sale of the code and disc will just make it a rental price/cost.

The movie is like far out, man!

Jack Nicholson, in a standout bit part, is a riot in this as well.

True enough, but it should be added that, if you watch the movie and don’t care for it, the failure is yours, not the film’s.

This is his EPIC start to a decade of killer roles. Up to at least The Shining in 1980. Easy Rider, 5 Easy pieces, The Passenger, Chinatown, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Shining. There's many I haven't watched yet in between these, but his streak starting at Easy Rider is amazing. These are very entertaining movies that seemed to push acting in general.

For sure. It definitely help start the new Hollywood order but it’s not for everyone.

It's a low budget, counter-culture film shot with a professional Hollywood sensibility (low budget does not always mean amateur hour) with some avant-garde flourishes thrown in for good measure towards the end of the film to give it a trippy vibe.

Easy Rider packs one hell of an emotional gut punch and is quite refreshing compared to a lot of play-it-totally-safe Hollywood fare of today.

Even though the main characters would almost be considered anti-heroes, given their chosen profession, in the modern era, they are written in such a way as to be deemed sympathetic and even pitied. That takes a deft touch in terms of acting and writing. Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda are in top form.

I’m not bashing the movie at all. I think it’s a film everyone should see at least once but I can see why many wouldn’t dig it. I watched it again on TMC a few months back and remember thinking that audiences today would likely be split.

There's a lot I like about it but honestly, it's a movie I only feel compelled to revisit once every six or seven years. I'll grab the UHD but not until it ends up in a £9.99 Zoom Day offer

Yeah I feel the same way. If I had not watched it recently I might have but yeah a nice big price drop... maybe.

We watched Easy Rider in an American Cinema class I took in undergrad. We also watched The Last Movie, and if you think Easy Rider was hard to get into in parts, wait till you check out The Last Movie. I understand the cultural significance and how films like that ushered in the Hollywood Renaissance, but man is The Last Movie a f*cking snoozer. I'd never be able to sit through it again.

Might pick up Easy Rider, though. Haven't seen it since undergrad actually and it's been nearly a decade at this point.

I'm still trying to figure out as to, why this movie was critically acclaim, and received such rave reviews. Easy Rider wasn't about nothing, and all I could get out of the movie, it was just a couple of over the hill bikers, driving across the country for a drug deal.

Sigh... it's not so much the plot but the approach to the filmmaking which garnered appraisal. Woodstock, Apollo 10, The Beatles etc. It was a very different time and Easy Rider embraced the antiestablishment attitude.

The same year we saw Midnight Cowboy and The Wild Bunch, Butch Cassidy. It was the start of the new Hollywood which stepped away from the studio system, focussing on making more personal stories with a more realistic approach.

I'd include Bonnie and Clyde in that list which was a couple years earlier, but you're probably wasting your breath on slimdude. With statements like "Easy Rider wasn't about nothing", I imagine he's never going to get it and probably relates more to the rednecks in the film.
