Not crazy about the box design, tbh. Might wait for a 2nd edition.

It's a bit vague on their site. It just states German subtitles. Unless someone knows better.

Nah, they must be removable. Sprachen English is a good sign.

[Show spoiler]
Have only just looked at the Plaion Pictures Shop website listing page, but I'm slowly warming to the boxset design. The shape of the top of the boxset is reminding me of something (maybe a much larger version of a playing piece in a board game).

I was expecting the price of the boxset (not including shipping) to be much more than the price stated on Plaion's website.

Maybe I was expecting too much, but now I'm looking to see who currently owns the 1992 TV film Back to the Streets of San Francisco (and keeping that slim hope that a boutique label like VEI might do a physical media release of the short-lived spin-off Bert D'Angelo/Superstar (I think I read that it started on US TV before the backdoor pilot aired on SOSF).

Wondering as well now, if a US release is going to get announced shortly. Sometimes a release in another country happens shortly afterwards, or a few years later.

Still need a UK friendly shipper. I'm still having cold sweats over the Knight Rider customs debacle.

The (I assume) release date stated on the Plaion Pictures website page for this boxset isn't that far away (Wednesday 26th July).

Looking at the picture of the boxset's design, I'm having a guess at it containing a thick Blu-ray case for each of the five seasons. It mentions "25 discs" in the set in total. Looking at what extras there are in Plaion's boxset, some of them were (I think) in the Season 1 or Season 2 DVD boxset.

During Plaions Livestream they said they where waiting with this Boxset for the tv film, but the licensing takes too long, so they didn’t want to wait anymore and are releasing the tv show now and the tv film later.

No, it’s five Digipacks with 5 discs each. You can see the unboxing around the 56-57 min mark:

Thank heavens for that. That sounds encouraging that the TV film will follow on later.

That's not a dealbreaker, them being digipaks (the four seasons in the Knight Rider boxset are the same (they're what I would call digipaks).

Thanks for the helpful reply.

I really wish I had a house big enough to have such a room (like Plaion's premises there at the 56-57 mark) for all my VHS, DVD, BD and box sets. It looks like a dream!

Every little bit helps I guess, so, there's a 5 EUR off 30 EUR discount that also works on pre-orders. The code is SANFRANCISCO23, valid until August 17, 2023.

Oddly enough, I only experienced something like that with BluRays in Germany not with indie labels, but with the majors. For example, Universal's Trainspotting (as UK rights reverted to Channel4). Or, Warner Bros.' Cloud Atlas (which has a complicated distribution deal).

The only thing I'm aware of is when rights holder (ParkCircus is known for that) asks labels not to include English subtitles (though labels often still do it, they just don't write it on the cover).

I'll wait, there is a good chance they get released elsewhere in a few months. If I understand the website, language is English and German, but subtitles only in German.
