My main upgrade want from that Universal Hammer set is KISS OF THE VAMPIRE.

When Universal televised it in the early 1970's, they retitled it as KISS OF EVIL. They censored quite a bit of gore, including removing ALMOST THE ENTIRE CLIMAX. To pad the running time, they added a newly-shot " religious" subplot.

All releases of Kiss of the Vampire seem to be taken from the same, very old master. I would upgrade in a heartbeat if Scream were to release it with a new transfer.

But I think most people are hoping for a re-release of Brides of Dracula. I have the Anolis release of it, which is in the correct OAR, but it is still based on the same old transfer.

It is probably also the most high profile title in the Universal collection, so if Scream is going for other titles in it, I am quite certain this will be one of them (provided they either get access to a new transfer or to the materials to do one themselves of course).

I could also see them go for Evil of Frankenstein.

I would love for them to release separate discs of all the movies in the Universal collection, but realistically I fear that is not feasible.

I'd upgrade for BRIDES OF DRACULA as well, although KISS OF THE VAMPIRE is my top want from that box.

I had the adults-only paperback of BRIDES OF DRACULA when I was about 9 years old. At that age, the smut portions were over my head.

Gotta say, I love the artwork for this Curse of the Werewolf release, if they do end up releasing Brides of Dacula, I hope the artwork looks as good as this one does.

Mark Maddox who is doing the Curse Of The Werewolf blu-ray art has been Shouts go-to artist for their “prestige” Hammer titles. I like his work but not fond of his samey tilted headshot illustrations for most of the SF Hammer titles. On the other hand, I suppose for those collecting all the poster version of the art, it would probably look cool with all of them framed on a wall next to each other like a Hammer Rogues Gallery.

Dang it. As I own the Universal Box, I was going to skip this release, but with those features this just moved onto the Wish List.

Those are some really good special features. Too bad there isn't an all new interview with Oliver Reed. Oh well.

I've read that Oliver Reed always spoke highly of his time working for Hammer. Too bad there doesn't appear to be any vintage stuff with him talking about the film. I'm not familiar with his later works, but I like him a lot in the Hammer films he made. Looking forward to seeing the new scan of this one.

I'm reliably informed by someone who's seen it that THE CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF
transfer is "perfect."

Wow. The specs sound much better than I anticipated. That new 4K transfer bodes well for any other titles Scream may release from the Universal Collection. I am definitely going to upgrade my old Anolis BD.

So, a lot of sites seem to be showing alternate artwork for this:

[Show spoiler]

I imagine that this could be the original artwork intended to be on the reverse, but if not, was this temp art or have Shout! dropped the newly commissioned artwork?

^ That's totally one of the original posters. Expect that to be on the reverse of the insert.

Hope the release of this isn't delayed.
