I think they’re still trying to perfect the move to 1080p.

Maybe it's trolling, maybe it's spectacular ignorance, hard to tell sometimes. Though given the choice between HDR 2D and 720p 3D, I'd take the 3D option every time.

I haven't seen any pre-orders go up, so there's still a small chance we'll get a 3D Blu-ray, but I'm not optimistic.

It took quite a while for trolls world tour 3D to be listed in the US, so there’s plenty of time before shutting the door on this one...

Press release:

HIS EPIC TAIL BEGINS WHEN SCOOB! ARRIVES ONTO 4K UHD COMBO PACK, BLU-RAY™ AND DVD FROM WARNER BROS. HOME ENTERTAINMENT

Burbank, CA, June 17, 2020 – Learn the origins of Mystery Inc. and prepare for adventure when “SCOOB!” arrives on 4K UHD Combo Pack, Blu-ray and DVD from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.

“SCOOB!” reveals the never-before-told story of Scooby’s origins. It shows how one of history’s most famous friendships began when an adorable, homeless puppy met a lonesome young boy named Shaggy, and how the two of them joined forces with aspiring young detectives Fred, Velma and Daphne to become the celebrated Mystery Inc. Now, with hundreds of cases solved and adventures shared, Scooby and the gang face the biggest and most challenging mystery of their careers: a plot that will unleash the legendary ghost dog Cerberus upon the world. As they race to stop this “dogpocalypse,” they discover that Scooby has a secret legacy and an epic destiny greater than anyone imagined.

“SCOOB!” features an all-star ensemble cast led by Will Forte, two-time Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg, Jason Isaacs, Gina Rodriguez, Zac Efron, Amanda Seyfried, Kiersey Clemons, Ken Jeong, Tracy Morgan, Simon Cowell, and Frank Welker.

It was directed by Warner Bros. animation stalwart Tony Cervone, an Annie Award nominee for the feature film “Space Jam,” two-time Emmy nominee for his work on “Duck Dodgers” and one of the creators of the popular Scooby-Doo series “Mystery Incorporated.”

The film was produced by Pam Coats and Allison Abbate. Adam Sztykiel, Charles Roven, Richard Suckle, Jesse Ehrman, Dan Povenmire, and Chris Columbus served as executive producers. The “SCOOB!” screenplay is by Adam Sztykiel and Jack C. Donaldson & Derek Elliott and Matt Lieberman, story by Matt Lieberman and Eyal Podell & Jonathon E. Stewart, based on characters created by Hanna-Barbera Productions. Cervone’s creative team included editors Ryan Folsey and Vanara Taing, and composer Tom Holkenborg.

The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc of “SCOOB!” will feature HDR10+TM, HDR technology that optimizes brightness levels and contrast for each scene, making bright areas brighter and dark areas darker to deliver a lifelike viewing experience.

The 4K UHD Combo Pack, Blu-ray and DVD versions of “SCOOB!” will all include a Digital copy of the film.

“SCOOB!” will also be available on Movies Anywhere. Using the free Movies Anywhere app and website, consumers can access all their eligible movies by connecting their Movies Anywhere account with their participating digital retailer accounts.

“SCOOB!” is also currently available for purchase from digital retailers.

There’s still a glimmer of hope for the other non-US markets though I guess?

It's possible, but highly unlikely.

As far as I know, it was never officially marketed as being in 3D. Now possible it would have had a very quiet 3D release or an overseas only one, but who knows if any 3D plans were canceled when its theatrical release was.

I actually saw the trailer in 3D in the theater front of Onward.
It's a shame it won't get a 3D release for the home market.
I hope that when theaters open back up they will show some of the movies that got shoved straight to the home market.

Sometimes the 3D in trailers are converted separately from the whole film since the trailers are cut early to get promotion out there before the film is complete. I remember reading that there are some trailers with better 3D in scenes than what ended up in the actual film. So it’s entirely possible they abandoned converting Scoob when it was looking like the theatrical release would be cancelled.

I remember The Green Hornet trailer was a case of the 3D being way better in the trailer. I noticed that pattern a lot and people on this forum insisted it was the same levels of 3D from trailer to completed film.

I wonder if this was ever going to be in 3D at all, the only evidence I’ve found of a 3D release is in its UK trailer stating: “Experience It in RealD 3D”

Reel FX (the studio that did the animation services for the film) had worked on Rumble (2021) for Paramount around the same time, and that film was natively rendered in 3D. So there is a chance that a 3D version was made and ready for release.

The reason I bring this up is that if Turbine does get Warner Bros titles in the future, this could be an option if a 3D version does indeed exist.

I could never find any credits for a stereoscopic 3D version. I don't think this was ever in 3D and would classify it as cancelled due to Covid.
