Yeah, so far Ultimate Edition owners only get Spider-Man remastered and no word on whether that's the full Game of the Year edition being remastered or just the base game.

Right now however, i'm a little surprised about them not trying to sell Spider-Man remastered separately.

The PS Blog did confirm that it will be the Game of the Year Edition; so its the full package plus a couple extra suits.

So did they say anything about the "free" upgrades of games to PS5 as far as disc based games? If I have the avengers PS4 disc, can I put that in the PS5 for a free upgrade? what would prevent a person just buying a used Avengers for the PS4 and get the upgrade. I'm confused how they are planning to do this. Or is it just the digital version?

I believe that each individual Publisher has their own methods. So far Ubisoft seem to be the most straightforward. Insert your PS4 game of AC Valhalla into a PS5 and it will download a PS5 digital edition that you must keep your PS4 disk inserted to play as the disk acts as your ownership authentication.

Madden etc. apparently have a limited time redemption period up until the following years entries. Presumably with a one time redeemable code or registration process. More of a fuss for nothing imo.

Ubisoft probably have the easiest system so far and Sony hopefully will follow suit and both hopefully have the PS5 digital edition in our library to download anytime but just need the disk inserted or we can later buy a fully digital copy and that works without disks.

The doc is missing Dead by Daylight which was announced with a free upgrade, featuring 4K 60fps and other improvements. Slated for "Holiday 2020" but this was announced prior to the official launch date of PS5.

Any games with an active user base that have expansion or MTX tied in quite a bit will probably get an upgrade to PS5 to help them keep the gravytrain going a little.

I think most publishers are taking a 'wait and see' before deciding to go this route or release remasters. I bet if Sony were pro-upgrades for their all of their ps4 games more publishers would be on board

Hypothetically wonder if you do it during a "limited" time upgrade a la EA etc. whether that Digital Edition via disk would then stick a licence in your library so as to if you hypothetically sold the game and repurchased on disk, let you re-download the PS5 edition too

I do and a lot of others. In fact the NIS America Store Limited Edition sold out fast. Though people looking for a physical PS5 copy are out of luck since that was cancelled for a digital only release "due to various circumstances". So Playstation users who want a physical copy have to get the PS4 version or the Switch version if you have it.
