The Blu-ray that comes with the UK UHD is actually NOT locked. Shhh... it's super secretly region free and it blows the SF disc out of the water. But if you press the "menu" button during the "Region 2 Only" warning, you can access the disc. No kidding. I'm sticking with my UK disc(s).

This works with one of the blu-ray discs (the "feature" one which includes the Carpenter/Piper commentary), but not the "extras" disc.

Glad to see they are moving into UHD. I have a bad feeling I'll be double dipping on a lot of my Shout releases.

I have the Studio Canal release and it's solid. I'm not a big fan of the spine/box art but the actual release is good. If I double dip, it'll be for stupid reasons.

Oh yeah. Lol. I'm probably the only forum member on this site who almost never watches any extras... so I literally forget they're a thing.

I hope they get new artwork for the 4K, I didn't care so much for the original release artwork.

At least the old release was reversible; I'm all about the original poster art. I currently have my imported UK discs housed in a black UHD case sporting the SF release's "original poster art".

True, I like some of the commission artworks, but not all. I really liked the cover for BTILC.

Was actually just thinking this myself. Being 8 years removed from the original SF release, I really hope it's not the same exact art.

I personally do not import much, if anything. I have a couple Arrow UK titles, but for the most part I simply get what's local to the States. That's why, as They Live is one of my favorite films, I still did not get the Studiocanal 4K.

This new SF 4K, I will definitely purchase, however.

Well, The Deer Hunter has Dolby Vision, Weathering With You has Dolby Vision while the Japanese UHD doesn't, and Duplitech's other indie label UHD- Hannibal for Kino does, so chances are high this will too.

Plus, I think I remember reading that Shout wants to get titles that already have a Dolby Vision master available, and this fits the bill as well.

I have the 4K C.E. of The Fog and Escape From New York but still didn't get around to ordering They Live or Prince of Darkness so I'll definitely pick this up day one!

Hope this sells well for Shout and encourages them to release more Carpenter classics on 4K. I would have loved for Shout to have released Halloween II & III on 4K this year but hopefully they come out next year to tie into the release of Halloween Kills.
