Okay, got it. So the first VSU title drops this year and will be part of current subscriptions. Can't wait to see what it is.

I haven't bought any Vinegar Syndrome titles before, but I'm actually interested in seeing what they do with this VSU line.

Thanks to Shudder, I finally saw this. Despite the praise I saw this getting on here, I just felt like it wasn't going to resonate with me as well. Happy to say I was wrong. This movie was awesome. The car scene
[Show spoiler]when Thomas and Papy are trying to get it started as Santa is attacking them and smashing his head on the windshield
now THAT had great atmosphere and was done very well. I think my only gripe was the melodramatic montage about halfway through. I get why it was there, but I felt like it slowed the movie down. Plus, I had to get my head out of the whole "he's 10! How can he do this!" since I never had that issue with Home Alone as a kid. This one was just grittier and awesome. The booby traps reminded me more of A Nightmare of Elm Street than say HA, which I know people compare to this film given the timeline of release, but I digress.

Also, dog lovers:
[Show spoiler]was not expecting the dog to get killed! Honestly thought Papy was gonna get it and the dog would survive. His death scene was realistic too, in terms of the kicks he got. i am sure the dog was not actually harmed, but damn near fooled me! I don't take offense to animals getting killed in movies (fake deaths not real ones!), but I am pleasantly surprised when they do get killed.

With that said, I will definitely at some point be grabbing the 4K. And for anyone wondering, the version on Shudder is indeed in French and not dubbed, but it is definitely nowhere near the PQ we will be getting from VS.

I do believe I saw the dvd at the dollar general yesterday.

If I knew, I would have snagged it,... maybe it’s for the best as the UHD is available

Edit my mistake the dollar tree had Boot Camp Santa not this movie.

I watched it on Shudder this weekend after seeing all the praise it was getting after VS announced it. It was ok, but not something I absolutely need in my collection.

Like Silent Night, Deadly Night without all the gore.

Is it just me or does that cover look like typical Scream Factory art? It's so busy.
Blue Underground released multiple covers of their 3 disc Zombie release a couple of years ago. It had 3 different lenticular slips and each had the original poster art with the slip art as reversible on the sleeve insert. I only picked up the splinter eye cover because I'm not that obsessive.

Also VS HAS done alternate covers before; Spookies and Cutting Class both had multiple choices for slipcover artwork.

So... can non-subscribers expect early shipment? I got this preordered and would love to have it in October to go along with my viewings.

It'll ship after all the subscriber's orders ship. So you may get it late October or early November.

Do you all think this is one I should preorder, so as to not miss out, like I did with Rad and Midsommar?

I’m still kicking myself about both of those releases.

Nah, this one should be available for years.

*I mean, you should pre-order it because it's a fun movie but it's not gonna go out of print anytime soon.

Both were special releases.

This doesn't seem to be going anywhere. If you want the slipcover sooner rather than later though.

Watched mine today. What a gem. Pleasantly surprised at how legit this movie is.

Another really nice UHD from Vinegar Syndrome. Very natural, and keeps the movie looking like film. Handles the moody, misty lighting and color well. Youtube trailers really didn't do it justice, as they made it seem harsher, and more like video.

Great features on the BD too. The interview with the director is super extensive and in-depth. Guy really has serious insight into directing actors.

That's funny because those are the only two VS titles I own that don't have slips.
