The official Bonnie Tyler music video with footage from the film.

Being a big fan of hers, I'll buy it just for that. It does look quite interesting though.

I got the blu ray a while ago. Its an OK film. I don't think I'll buy this release but I would recommend giving it a try if you haven't seen it before. It's a bit odd.

So was Home Alone even in production when this was theatrically released?

Yes. HA was shooting just AFTER the film was widely released in France, but was in pre-production/continued development during the time this film was in production. No exact timeline of HA's development has been put together, but the blah-blah from Hughes indicates a typical 2-3 year gestation period, with studio wrangling and politics involved.

As someone who has pretty much all of the 4k uhd releases from boutique labels, we’re finally getting some releases that are testing my desire to continuing buying them out of pure support for the format. But whatever, I love Vinegar’s slipcover releases of Tammy and Rad, and the transfers were great so I’ll be getting this!

I’ve always wanted to buy a disc from Vinegar Syndrome so this might be my first. Funnily enough I’ve heard very good things about this movie so seeing a lot of skittish buyers of this one is interesting. The clips I looked up looked very good. Just don’t know if I should watch it on Shudder first or let the excitement of a blind buy win me over.

I only have one VS release: The Corruption of Chris Miller because I find their catalog of titles to be mostly putrid and beyond shitty films that are dressed up by VS' top flight treatment. So, I also find it odd to see this title get some kind of flak considering it's by far the Citizen Kane of their catalog, IMO.

I have the Camera Obscura blu-ray also. I'm not sure if I'll double-dip. I thought the movie was cool, but I wasn't blown away by it. Maybe I need to watch it again.

Ditto, I also have the Camera Obscura Blu-ray. I certainly liked the film, but I wouldn't call it a classic of it's time or anything. But yeah...perhaps on further viewings that will improve.

Vinegar Syndrome doesn't do alternate covers. Actually, no US label does - multiple covers are a Euro thing. I hope nobody here starts doing that as it's going to bankrupt the OCD collectors

Is it just me or does that cover look like typical Scream Factory art? It's so busy.

VS is unveiling a new UHD line. First title is revealed tomorrow.

Quote:
VSU...You've probably been wondering what in the hell it means. We've seen some pretty wild and creative guesses but in anticipation of our Black Friday 2020 Flash Pre-order, coming this Friday, we think we need to kill the rumors and unveil the truth.

VSU = Vinegar Syndrome Ultra...as in UHD. Each VSU release will be an extra special edition UHD/Blu-ray combo pack, beginning with an internationally beloved early 80s, genre blending classic.
So you might be asking yourself "why another sub-label or spin-off?" Well, similar to VSA, these releases will not have a set frequency or yearly quantity. They'll happen as they happen. We have a couple more that we're working on, but no set plans for when they'll drop. However, just as significant, these titles might not 100% gel with the 'deeper cuts' and 'trashier' offerings many VS devotees expect and demand.

We want VSU to be a home for future RAD type titles. We saw an unexpected amount of diversity in responses to that release, ranging from excitement, to confusion, to disappointment. And we get it. Over our 8 years, VS has morphed and evolved to satisfy audience demands, while also trying to stay true to our original intention of being a home for genre films of all types (as long as they were shot on film) that were at the risk of being overlooked, forgotten, and lost, or that we simply decided needed love that they wouldn't get elsewhere. But not every film is for everyone. VSU titles are not, for the most part, going to be focused on sex and violence, which is not to say they won't include it. They're not necessarily going to be 'art' films or 'mainstream' movies either, but instead films that straddle and bend those lines a bit more than what's come to be expected with VS titles.

For subscribers (Yearly and those who picked up a Halfway package), the inaugural VSU release WILL BE INCLUDED in your subscription (and no matter what you thought of RAD, the pedigree(s) on this one should have you smiling from ear-to-ear). Future VSU titles, whenever they might emerge, will not be included in future packages but subscribers will receive exclusive discount codes (as with VSA) if they choose to pick any up.

Oh, and these will be IN ADDITION to regular VD UHDs! Awesome news.

There will still be numerous VS branded UHDs (we have a few planned for 2021 already!). They will all be horror and/or exploitation.

Well if there was any doubt I was going to subscribe this year, that doubt has been erased.

Though I wonder what is meant by "the inaugural VSU release WILL BE INCLUDED in your subscription." Did they mean releases (plural) or will there only be one this year? Or did they mean only the first release will be part of the subscription?

Only the first VSU release (which comes out in November) will be included with the subscription. Future VSU titles will not be included in the 2021 subscription, but subscribers will get coupons to make them cheaper.
