I hope there's a steelbook with some nice artwork featuring Cheetah.

Until the answers to at least one of those questions is "yes", you can save your rant.

The irony in the fact that you compare going to a theater to be as important as "breathing" just shows that you have no idea what some people are going through, and no, smart people aren't taking risks right now for things as frivolous as going to a movie theater.

My dad is at very high risk for getting it, as is another family member. I've had two siblings who contracted it as well. I had two other family members contract it and one was in the hospital on oxygen. I thought I had it, but it was just the stomach flu. I understand what "some" people are going through quite well. That doesn't change my opinion on movie theaters and record stores. I will always believe that. No matter what. I am entitled to this opinion too. I'm old enough to have grown up with this stuff and know what it is like without them. And it stinks. Music and movies are a real passion for me (especially music).

I would agree that cinemas are pretty “safe” right now - in the UK, no outbreaks have been linked to the cinema.

That said, it’s very understandable why many people don’t feel safe - especially at risk groups with the virus anyway. The irony is, if everyone thought the cinema was safe, it would no longer be safe because it would be packed out.

I’d argue that places of worship and restaurants (arguably, both more essential than the cinema) are more dangerous.

Theaters are one of the safest public places you can go right now. Ironically it still has that stigma of being over crowded, dirty and inconvenient. You just have to be smart, pick a bigger theater, maybe travel a little further, but it's worth it.

There's literally never been a better time to go to the theater for movie-buffs. Chances are you're going to have a theater all to yourself for 10 bucks. Shit. At least around my area and it's definitely not rural.

I will quarantine for 2 weeks before and after, just so I can see this in an IMAX theater, much like I did with Tenet. No way in hell am I watching this the first time streamed lol. Luckily I don't have any relatives near by, and don't live with anyone at risk. Hopefully a few days after Christmas the theaters will be pretty empty too. Even opening day here seems extremely light, sadly.

There may not have been outbreaks linked to the cinema but make no mistakes, the risk is there and real. Thank god for HBO Max.

No doubt! Less risk than your average grocery store (which you should be getting delivered anyway) or even the post office. But yeah, the risk is everywhere, as little as it may be.

Mask up and be as courteous as humanly possible

I'll never thank god for any streaming service, but I'll thank god for options and choice for people who are less fortunate than I.

I really want to support movie theaters, but it was disgusting when I saw Tenet at AMC. It was dirtier than it was pre-covid, so I won't be going back until the virus is over with. I had a mild case of covid in June, so my immunity is probably gone. My wife had a bad case of covid and was nearly hospitalized. Not risking it again. Still can't believe how dirty it was. I'm guessing it's because they have minimum staff. HBO Max is the best option for me for now.

My LG, Roku, PS3, and my older Samsung won't support HBO Max. Just have to wait for 4k to come out

Sorry to hear about you and your wife. I’m glad that you can get HBO Max as that does sound like the best option for you.
Unfortunately we don’t have HBO Max in the U.K so we don’t have the option but to go to the cinema from the 16th of December if we want to see it. Luckily nobody in my family has had it. So we’ll have to see about going to the cinema. Don’t know if it’s worth the risk. I want to support cinema and WW1984 but I just don’t know if I can go. There was a rumour that Sky in the U.K might be getting it but it hasn’t been confirmed. I presume we’ll have to pay to watch it every time as I’m sure it will be pay per view rather than on a subscription service. Do new films work like that with HBO?

You and your wife both had COVID and you won't go to a theater again because of COVID? You do realize that you are most likely immune now?

No they're not. COVID doesn't work that way and it's well documented.

I plan to see it in the theatre. My only concern is that they will harass me to wear a mask while I am watching.

I live in Wales, which is the worst affected region of the U.K. at the moment with covid. Most public places had a curfew of 6pm put in last week, and all cinemas had to close. There’s a review of the measures on the 17th, but I’m not hopeful our cinemas will be open over Christmas.
WB aren’t providing any other options to watch it in the U.K. at the moment, other than a rumoured deal with Sky for it to come to them mid-January.

Regardless, I’ll make every effort to see it theatrically as soon as I can.

I've been going to AMC for over a month or so now, as it's the only theaters open in my area. I have yet to see anything filthy about AMC. In fact, I have found it to be cleaner now than it ever was before Covid. Their drink/butter station used to be the nastiest thing you've ever seen. It is so much cleaner now. Plus, you do know that now have antibodies and are immune to getting it. For the most part anyway.

Living in SoCal, I will not be able to go to theaters until probably sometime around summer next year (barring some other unforseen calamity, knock on wood). So HBO it is.
