No, a boutique label could have put it out years ago if it were available. The odds aren't increased because Paramount is finally releasing it to Blu-ray.

Are the features listed on the back cover just ports from a previous DVD release, or is this the first time we’re seeing these?

I dug out my DVD copy, and it looks like the dropped features are...
- Interactive Game Demo. - Production Notes. - Cast & Filmmakers' Bios. - Theatrical Trailers. I always like trailers and TV spots as bonus material, but I don't think I'll miss the other stuff. Plus, for $12, as long as the transfer is improved from the DVD this is a no-brainer. If a year from now Shout or somebody puts out a $27 edition with a new transfer, trailers, a Dante commentary track, new featurettes, etc., I'll get that in a heartbeat as well. (It happened with The Burbs and The Wizard, so you never know.) Mainly I'm just happy this is finally coming to blu-ray! Always happy to add to the Dante section on my shelves. |

Pre-Ordered it on Best Buy for $12.99. Would love a sequel movie or a movie with the Gorganites themselves.

Oh weird. My DVD didn't list deleted scenes. I wonder if I missed it, or if I just have some cheaper edition. Either way, deleted scenes would be nice to have on the blu.

It and Croc were my first games on the system, fond memories of both (despite their obvious downfalls). SS had a stellar soundtrack by the then unknown Michael Giacchino, one of the earliest fully-orchestrated scores too from what I recall;
Loved that the game opted for portraying Gorgon as a real, alien world and completely removing the toy aspect of the film. |

Watched my copy last night and overall it looked solid, but it really is an older master. So don't go into this expecting some sort of modern miracle. I also got it with Mouse Hunt and that one looked completely astonishing. Still, this an upgrade over the DVD and is probably the same master that was used in international releases.

Yeah, but at least it's an upgrade. It's interesting that Mouse Hunt looks like so much better, despite it being from the same studio and released around the same time. That one even looks it might have gotten a 4K remaster, but I'm sure it didn't. It just looks so good.
