Diabolik said that their decision wasn't a related to, or confirmation of, a Synapse release.

Of course they did. And Synapse Films "has no plans at this time" to release standard, non-steelbook editions of THE LIVING DEAD AT MANCHESTER MORGUE and MASSACRE AT CENTRAL HIGH in the future, as well...

I mean, seriously, why else would Diabolik withhold these? Out of deference for the existing Synapse Blu-rays which have been out for what, over 5 years now? There's literally no other reason for them to not sell the Arrow UHDs unless Synapse had their own upcoming re-releases up their sleeves.

Using this example: StudioCanal announced Flash Gordon at the beginning of May. Arrow announced their release of Flash Gordon at the end of May.

If Synapse does have the rights to a 4K UHD release of the Demons films here in the States, they need to come out as soon as possible to say there is a 4K UHD release in the works or risk losing sales to Arrow.

7 years. The steelboks arrived to my house on the launch day of the Xbox One.

I would bet you are correct but I would rather skip the two+ year wait for the steelbook version to sell out so I can grab a standard edition from Synapse. I appreciate Arrow giving me a choice between steel or box immediately.

Demons / Demons 2 steelbook: November 2013.
Demons / Demons 2 regular release: November 2014.

Tenebrae steelbook: February 2016.
Tenebrae regular release: September 2016.

Phenomena steelbook: November 2016.
Phenomena release: September 2017.

Suspiria steelbook: December 2017.
Suspiria two-disc and one-disc releases: March 2018.
Suspiria 4K: November 2019.

Suspiria and Tenebrae selling out quickly is what gave them the smallest gap. The Demons steelbooks, especially Demons 2, were out for awhile despite the regular releases stripping the discs of most of the various audio tracks and bonus materials. From Tenebrae on, Synapse kept the discs the same. The standard releases dropped any non-Blu-ray discs.

I’m going to import this as it’s a must but regarding diabolik not having this item they know fans will get their hands on this regardless. If it’s a case of them being hush about an upcoming set then synapse needs to come out soon and make that announcement. Then it’s in the hands of fans making that choice of what’s the better package/release to order.

For me that hard book/ticket prop is a seller for me.

I pre-ordered from them direct yesterday. I had a re-watch back in October, it had been a couple of years ago since i watched them last. They're fun movies in my opinion.

When the standard Synapse edition ended up with a removal of a dub , it was hard to bite on it when the Arrow 2-fer SteelBook that I had in Region B had both dubs. To get both dubs, that required getting the SteelBooks and those were more expensive on average than this.

If there ends up being a 4K though Synapse, I'd bet it will be a Flash Gordon situation. FIM does work for Synapse (ex. Suspiria), after all. It'll probably be in a SteelBook, if that's your kind of thing. I've yet to like a Synapse SteelBook design, personally. The slipcovers that go over them, however, have been really nice and feature original poster art. I like those.

Great. I'm pre-ordering then. After my Dawn of the Dead set arrived all beat up via Amazon, I'm ordering the more expensive stuff directly from the label from now on.

Actually, based on an old blog post by Don May, Jr. on the Synapse site, Arrow released theirs with seemingly no corrections done to the masters they received. Synapse had to do a LOT more than just fix the color timing. Fortunately, Arrow stepped up their PQ with Zombie, and the rest is history.

Demons and Demons 2 are the Italian Evil Dead movies.

Two masterpieces. I'm so proud of them.

Glad to see that they have been properly preserved.

Okay I got more info on what happened with International Shipping from DEFF

I e-mailed them and I got this response.

Everything seems to be fine currently.

Thank you for your email.

Our shipping was temporaily suspended yesterday evening as we was reviewing our worldwide shipping rates as our shipping provider has recently announced changes to our rates. Now that we have completed this review we have re-activated our shipping service to the US however the standard shipping rate of £19.95 is only for orders up to a maximum weight (including packaging) of 2kgs. On any occasion the weight exceeds the maximum delivery weight an additional delivery fee maybe required. We are working on some changes to our system that will show you the total shipping cost based on weight which should be live on our website within the next 10 days.

Many Thanks

I asked about them listing DEMONS / DEMONS 2 4K and they are just waiting for full details pricing but will be listed soon.

Thanks again, man. And even though I'm not enough of a Demons fan to spring for this, I'm rubbing my hands together in anticipation on your behalf.

Finding a company that ships things out internationally so they arrive in the best condition possible is (or at least was) exhausting. I'll stick with Deff for as long as I can. (And I'll try to hold off on all the "Deff-inately" jokes my mind keeps coming up with. )

If you order a few titles, it just comes inside a cardboard envelope. If you order a lot of titles, then it will come inside a box (though I'm not sure if they will put any protection like bubble wrap in it). I personally haven't found any problems with the titles that came from the cardboard envelope but I know that a couple of people have had problems with it since they can get damaged easily.

I'd argue the Arrow Video of 2012 is a night-and-day difference between the Arrow Video of 2020.

Their earlier releases was just them putting out anything they could get their hands on, but with more of a focus towards bonus materials and packaging. Once Arrow began taking the reigns with their own restorations, they became the Arrow we know and love today.

I have complete faith in Arrow that the 4K UHD of Demons/Demons 2 is going to look nothing like their 2012 counterpart.
