Not my favorite, however, I will pick it up since I do like me some Paris Hilton.

Nice! I love this movie! I don't care what people say.

I remember there was suppose to be a 2 disc DVD special edition loaded with tons of features. But it was canceled for whatever reason.

Am I crazy? The House Of Wax remake was wretched, and yet 16 years later people are suddenly referring to it as some kind of overlooked classic?

One of my guilty pleasures finally getting some love. I really admire the production design of this.

that is true. Excellent production design of the whole town. and actually house of wax.

It was the first film by Jaume Collet-Serra.

Who directed such films as
Orphan
Unknown
Non-Stop
Run All Night
The Shallows
The Commuter

and the upcoming films: Jungle Cruise and Black Adam.

Noticed this was on Tubi. Was thinking of giving it a triple feature with Mystery Of The Wax Museum and House Of Wax.

My guess is that it's a decent flick with some good gore but it suffers from a lack of an actor of Vincent Price's caliber?

Go see it (along with MOTWM). It's a pretty great flick that basically kickstarted Vincent Price's horror career. You're probably gonna like it way better than the remake.

Also something (probably useless) to note. It's one of the few horror films to have Disturbed on the soundtrack album.

I'd love to see a fully restored uncut version of the 2019 Black Christmas. It's not a bad movie actually. It's just not for men who take things too personally.

House of Wax(2005), I recall being very entertaining much to my surprise. I saw it in theaters, but haven't seen it since. It was my favorite Dark Castle movie, since I wasn't into their other films really.

I've been tempted to get the Warner blu-ray, but held off, hoping eventually Scream Factory or someone would get it and release it with uncompressed audio.

Yes I know. He’s a Spaniard director. I like all his films

The year before it was on another horror remake, Dawn of the Dead. As a cover song and the official song of Down with the Sickness.

Some people like movies you hate. And you know what? I'll just bet there are some movies you like that other people hate. I bet so.

It makes a lot more sense to pair it with Tourist Trap (1979). It's a remake of House of Wax in name only.

It is already on Blu-ray from Warner but with a lossy DD 5.1 640kbs track. This should have DTS-HD MA 5.1 now.

Anything in a horror movie that might make someone think of using a barf bag is a bonus for me. I've seen it twice since it came out. It's fairly innocuous in terms of bloody effects compared to other horror titles.

I prefer that they came up with a new plot. A remake of a classic usually doesn't work well. As I mentioned in another thread though, I loved the idea of a wax town. That probably was what made me like this movie more than I expected.

I realize this thread is about House of Wax (2005) and it's not my intention to derail the conversation with talk of Black Christmas so I'll make my final comment on the matter.

I think the main problem with Black Christmas (2019) was naming it "Black Christmas". Had they titled it something other than Black Christmas or the name of another well known and loved horror classic, I don't think it would have received nearly the amount of hatred it did. If they had called it "Sorority Sisters" or something like that, there still would have been a lot of people that didn't like it, but it wouldn't have duped a lot of people (like me) who were expecting something awesome along the lines of the 1974 original and/or the 2006 film. They called it Black Christmas to bankroll the film and to get butts in the seats to make a big profit. To our disappointment, the horror, suspense, and gore took a backseat to the political commentary. That's why a lot of people hate it. We went in expecting a horror film, not what we got.

This is a superb slasher, one of the best post 2000 slashers ever made IMO.

I remember finding this movie very gruesome when I saw it in theaters... since I’ve gotten back into horror I’m very curious to see if I still consider it that way.

I still remember three gore scenes pretty clearly so it obviously did something right.
