Don't know if i am getting into the beta. Never even had an acknowledgement when i basically signed up for the account doohicky. However i think i'd be interested to play this with the reveal they did. Not sold 100% but the prices on PS5 pre-orders have been £40 which is great.

Is the collector's edition already sold out? Can't buy it on Gamestop or Best Buy.

Best to keep trying if you want the collector's version just in case it eventually returns to stock. But yeah, the resellers gorge on the preorders the split second they're put up probably, and then there's nothing left for actual gamers. It's really bad these days.

Good luck people.

In the open world, I wonder if you can run away from battles and just explore? Probably not, seeing that the dragon invaded the player's space and it seems to create a sphere within the player's movement range. Not sure, but it helps to run when underpowered and in dangerous territory in a game. Thinking of Witcher 3, which lets you run to fight another day.

You can run away from encounters in existing Souls games aside boss encounters. I imagine the same in this game though probably more opportunity to stealth through.

The open nature makes the game more like a modern Witcher/Assassin’s Creed deal with everything from hunting, crafting through combat and stealth just with better bosses and more traditional linear Souls areas like in the dungeons and castle. It definitely appears that way. To me having an open world makes the game easier in many ways, but time will tell.

Thanks. That's a good point about the sneak walk past the forest enemies. That was nice to see. So yes, any minor enemies can be avoided most times. That's cool.

In most open world games, I just start exploring as soon as it's possible, even venturing into dangerous areas just for the exploration of it.

This game Elex, let you explore areas that one hit wipes out the player from an enemy. I imagine this game will offer enemies like that too.

The spells in this game look very cool, and remind me of the powerful spells in a game like Golden Axe, with the lightning strikes, the fire spells torching stuff, and more.

From's world/map design is genius, how by the end of the games you find that the 'levels' are connected together.

finding a shortcut or an elevator that take you back to a previous area is mindblowing, I hope they still managed to do things like that in an open world

Day one for sure. I'll say it, I never thought any of the Souls games were as difficult as people claim them to be. Sure there is trial, and error, but one you start leveling up, things go so much smoother. Boss battles were the only difficult part and those are manageable once you learn the "weak spot". OF course some bosses are just a purely bash till they die variety. I think the boss battles in Nioh were much more difficult to the point of infuriating.

Interesting points about difficulty, thanks.

With boss battles, if the boss hits the player 1 time and the player with full health is then almost dead, that stinks. When the boss hits the player and the player only loses 10% of the health, that's much more reasonable. But it does depend on the armor, power level of the player too, facing maybe a boss they're not ready for.

Some boss moves can't be dodged in time, so blocking is really important to reduce the damage taken by a lot, compared to not blocking.

I like magic spells that create a protective barrier so when the player is hit, the barrier absorbs the damage for a limited time.

Right they have always been a "play smart, and be rewarded" type of game. They accept nothing but the best reflexes/reaction time, and item management.
And I love that about them.

Looks too much like Dark Souls. My dream years ago (expressed in one of those "What should FromSoftware do next?" threads) was for Miyazaki to take inspiration from the other Miyazaki's Nausicaa manga (as well as The Journey of Shuna) by making a fantasy science fiction game set in the far distant future. Elements of medieval times and ancient city ruins swallowed by sand and weird overgrowth/fungi. There were moments in the original Dark Souls that reminded me of the manga, like Ash Lake. But any setting but more medieval fantasy would have been appreciated.

Man oh man, the Collector's Edition is already going for $400? That's insane. Such a shame.

That's a concern of mine. I've about had my fill of open world games but I'm hoping FromSoft can set an example of how to apply their brilliant level design to larger scale areas.

Also, it has been reported that you will not die/lose health if you fall or drop from a high cliff, etc.

In the previews, the armored hero jumped down about 40 feet below to a solid ground, and seemed unaffected. I don't mind that, but for more realism, they could have anything taller in height have an effect on the player's health a fraction, as expected in most games.

The demo has a ton of bosses and exploration and it’s a small slice of the map. This game is huge.
