I feel like it was gonna flop in theaters, pandemic or not. Possibly Luca as well, and Lightyear feels like their return to a big event film which will play on the big screen (they are even including the trailer with R rated movies showing the desire to reach a broad audience).

It's really a shame though, Luca and Turning Red do something different than the usual Pixar formula, just goes to show that people prefer the same crap over and over again.

I’m not even that interested in this movie and this pisses me off. These last few Pixar films represent almost a whole decade of hard and painstakingly detailed work by hundreds of artists after promising their fans that they would return to original films after numerous sequels in the 2010s, and Disney is treating them like they’re on the same level as Home Sweet Home Alone. Meanwhile Disney’s own animated films have gotten a $29.99 streaming/theatrical hybrid release and a 30 day theatrical exclusive release respectively. What gives? Pixar should have left Disney long ago.

The frantic search to see how you can be offended today will end up biting you in the butt. Plenty of white characters have been turned into animals too.
