The strongest dynamic for me is young Kirsten, Frank, and Jeevan. In that way it’s akin to The Stand or The Leftovers.
Agreed.. Such a good show, this is.

I tried watching this about 2 months ago. Thought the first episode was one of the most compelling first episodes of a show I’ve ever seen. Then, for me, took a giant nosedive. Made it through episode 4 and gave up. Really didn’t like the direction it went.

The book is completely different and better.

Same with me. It theory it should be something I like. I didn’t.

I didn't think it was as amazing as everybody else did, I didn't fall over myself praising it as a masterpiece... but I did like it. I got the 4K set to show Paramount we want those kinds of things, and I enjoyed it more this time around. I think they definitely needed to tone down the pretentiousness with the whole acting thing and obsession with that dumb book, I cared more about the stuff just after the pandemic.

I enjoyed the show, but I thought the ending ruined it.

[Show spoiler]They tried to make the "villain" into a sympathetic character with mommy and daddy issues - nothing that a little Shakespeare can't fix. Am I supposed to forget that he employed a child suicide bomber a few episodes earlier? WTF!

Two episodes in…idk. I’m going to finish it but so far much of feels kind of pretentious. All the stuff with young Kirsten is keeping me glued, but the rest of it feels like artsy schlock drama.

Like I said though, I’m going to see it through.

I mean, it doesn't get not pretentious. The past stuff is definitely more interesting, but I enjoyed the show still and they kind of calm down by the end.
