That is already factored into the total they need to make. When box-office analysts say a movie needs to make $500M to break even, they mean $500M box office, not $500M take home for the studio.

Right! It's really not that hard of a concept to grasp

I went to X and The Outfit yesterday and I'm VERY glad I didn't have to suffer through the Morbius trailer before either movie.

But doesn't WB also get something from merchandising? I would imagine that would be profitable, too. I mean, just look everywhere.

Yeah but we're strictly talking about box-office...but yes between the toys, apparel, accessories, and streaming rights this thing is a cash cow for WB.

Let's hope it's a better movie than many expect it to be.

Most people think everything will suck. So i don't really trust folks anymore.

I'm always rooting for the Underdog. Or what I'm told not to like.

Actually I was wrong, it won't pass $600M worldwide today, it passed it yesterday. $600.4M.

-Total Cost for studio: $200M
-Theater owners keep about half the box office.
-So movie business reporters announce the movie has to make $400M at the box-office in order to break even. This does not mean the studio has to take home $400M. It means the movie has to make $400M at the box-office in order for the studio the make their needed $200M

Does this make sense yet?
