Amityville is a great addition to the CIP line. I own all the titles thus far and very happy to see a title like this pop up. Keep more Amityville type flicks coming along with the others.

A nice mix pleases all.

People are worried for no reason. CIP isn't going to turn into a depository for Z grade horror movies. And if they do, they gotta go with what sells. Still, I don't think that'll happen. Look at their output so far.

I'm sure everyone knows this, but, "canuxploitation" does not refer to just the horror genre, but any B-film made during the tax shelter years within Canada. When I say it would be cool to see more of that era of film-making in CIP's lineup, I meant films within all genres that were produced during that time

Yeah, I love a good mix, there's plenty of weird Canadiana I'd love to get on disc. Haven't missed a release from this label yet. I do hope their use of DNR eases up a bit (Forbidden Love looks pretty bad) but I have no complaints about their film selections and I love all the shorts included as supplements (including stuff I hazily recall from childhood filmstrips).

With them dipping their toes into no-fi horror with Amityville, there's a chance they get the great Burquitlam epic, Big Meat Eater. I need "Mondo Chemico" in HD!

There is a BD-r release out there that’s official. Looks pretty good too.

Thats the one I bought a while back, I agree the picture and sound quality is really good for a BD-r. I would so love to see this Canadian cult classic get the royal treatment that it deserves, maybe a boxset with a Soundtrack would be incredible.

I'm really looking forward to The Devil At Your Heels...it's a fantastic cult classic of a documentary, i highly, highly, highly recommend it!

Synopsis
Devil at Your Heels, traces the trials of stuntman Ken Carter who attempts a death defying aerial jump in a car. Not content with a normal jump, Ken Carter attempts a jump from Canada to the USA.

The Amityville Curse brought more eyes to CIP. Unfortunately I don't think it'll result in more sales since some people will now expect more horror films from them.

Horror is popular and there are a lot of labels putting it out. CIP might be the only label able to put out Forbidden Love, Nobody Waved Goodbye or The Ernie Game.

On the bright side (not that there's really a negative side to this topic), some of us who now have CIP on a front burner will become more aware of their other offerings and even be willing to make a blind buy on occasion. So, you see, there's no "down side" to CIP throwing in a cheezy horror flick once or twice a year. Quirky dramas, arthouse and documentaries will continue to be their bread and butter.

Only time will tell. CIP seems uniquely able to release a lot of films that wouldn't see the light of day otherwise. As long as they don't become consumed with horror things should be fine.

Like I said before, a nice mix is perfectly fine.

I think they mentioned offering it to Arrow who weren’t interested. It doesn’t have any extras, unlike a previous DVD, so it is ripe for a better release.

Personally I'm hoping for more than one or two a year, given they seem to release a new title each month or so. There was plenty of bizarre, sleazy, low-budget and cheesy crap made in Canada during the tax-shelter era, and there aren't a lot of labels in a position to release them. Unlike other countries like the US, UK, Australia, etc. Canada really doesn't have any good boutique labels aside from this one. And despite wanting to shove "Canadian content" down our throats on TV and radio, the government has zero interest in preserving Canada's oddball film history.

Also, being a partner label of Vinegar Syndrome, it's worth keeping in mind who the majority of people are that tend to peruse the VS website. So far I've bought every one of CIP's releases, but Canadian B-movies on blu is an underserved market.

Forbidden Love, Don’t Let Angels Fall, the Helicopter/Keaton set, and Nobody Waved Goodbye have all done great or decent compared to the other PLs, some selling more than a thousand in one month.

Horror will always do the best, but I think they have a good thing going, especially with Canadian cinema being rather untapped.

Agreed. I have to wonder though, why does it take an American company’s interest for older Canadian films to get exposure?

No idea if this is at all within reach for CIP, but feel I need to get this out into the world:

Would LOVE to see them release one of my absolute favourite underappreciated Canadian films - I LOVE A MAN IN UNIFORM from 1993.

David Wellington's film really deserves a restoration and exposure to a wider audience.

A new release of Wellington's THE CARPENTER would also be most welcome (perhaps better suited for Vinegar Syndrome).

Holy crap! What a way to end the year of problematic QC across most companies. Now to play the waiting game to see if this is indeed just a one off of the thousand they produced (I'm hopeful it is).

However, I do like Frasier, and that new Frasier set isn't in my budget... I'd take a free Frasier disc

Treed Murray (released in the US under the unimaginative title Get Down) is a pretty cool Canadian film I'd love to see on Blu-ray.

I would like to see them release ‘Riel’ (with Raymond Cloutier, Christopher Plummer, William Shatner, Barry Morse, Leslie Nielsen, Dave Thomas, Maury Chaykin etc.) and ‘The Clown Murders’ (John Candy, Laurence Dane, Susan Keller etc…).
