Bill,

Any word on when we might see some news on....well ANYTHING?

Its been awfully boring lately since Warner came over.

Maybe our expectations are too high and we have gotten spoiled.

Im not talking about Paramount or Universal news....just something worth debating and Im not asking for a when and what, just a when.

Bill, I will never be able to thank you enough for taking the time to post here!

Okay... deep breaths everyone. This isn't any kind of bomb... just a preview of some of what you can expect later in 2008 on DVD and Blu-ray. So you know... don't blow this thing up to be bigger than it is. I'm sure there will be cool title news, but let's not get expectations too high. Back in January 2007, Warner did something similar - they previewed the key titles planned for their 2007 slate. That's what this is, just for 2008. I should have all the details up on The Bits tomorrow night - probably fairly late Pacific time. Definitely they'll be up in time for Wednesday's early AM post.

I get the impression that we will see the DUD Warner exclusives finally come to BD plus new Warner titles unreleased on DUD, DVD and BD due to the fact that Bill mentioned DVD and BD titles being released.

One comment:

I don't think any MAJOR retailers will drop HD DVD (especially in the next 6 months) unless Universal and Paramount drop HD DVD.

Sure HD DVD will have shrinking footprint, but I doubt there would be an outright drop as long as there is a major studio supplying product.

By MAJOR retailer, I'm assuming the likes of Best Buy, CC, Walmart, Amazon.

What a bunch of pessimists on this forum. Seriously, look at this:

Paramount goes neutral - 129 - 55.84%
Universal goes neutral - 94 - 40.69%
1 or more MAJOR retailers drop HD DVD - 184 - 79.65%
Universal or Paramout goes blu exclusive - 57 - 24.68%
Venturer drops HD DVD support - 58 - 25.11%
A blu studio goes purple - 7 - 3.03%
Toshiba throws in the towel - 40 - 17.32%
Blu-ray players for under $250 - 103 - 44.59%
LOTR or Star Wars announed - 42 - 18.18%
At least 1 week of a 95:5 software ratio - 94 - 40.69%

I hate to say I told you so, but I voted for everything except a Blu studio going purple and LOTR or Star Wars announced.

And all that's left to come true is Paramount jumping (already being reported as true in Germany) and the 95:5 sales ratio (coming soon!). Oh, and maybe the Venturer thing. I don't really follow Venturer.
