Faulty Discs?

I just sent my two (bought the second last week off ebay) unreadable copies of Drag Me to Hell to Lionsgate yesterday for a replacement disc.

So I went through this thread and tested what I have out of those mentioned. All of which I've had a long time. probably 10 years or more.

Still Work

The Road (UK)
Gone Girl (UK)
Dogma (USA, not sure which was mentioned on here)

Busted

Crank 2: High Voltage (UK)
Zack & Miri Make A Porno (UK)

Already tried in the past and had died

The Book of Eli (UK)
Cell 211/Celda 211 (Spanish release)
Red Cliff Disc 1 (UK)

I suppose it's not the worst scenario given the amount of discs I have, and none of the ones affected were ones I really cared about too much. I was able to replace Cell 211 with the English release for about 3 quid.

Still, pretty frustrating. It makes me wonder if there are any more in my collection that don't work or will die in a few years.

I tried my Zack & Miri disc and mine is f'd as well. I'm confused though, I thought only Icon discs were affected? Is there a master list of which discs are affected?

She was a Jack Russell, a cross between a long and short hair, which is why she looks a little different to most.

I may have this issue with my Flash Season 5 Disc 1 Blu-ray Disc, and it's utterly ridiculous that this should happen. Why the hell is there not someone when pressing these discs doing quality control?

I bought my Flash Complete Series last November/December on Amazon, and if there is an issue and Amazon don't give me a replacement disc, I will be writing a very strongly worded email of complaint to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.

I am having trouble with the Synapse blu ray edition of The Living Dead at The Manchester Morgue.

I'm in the UK - the blu ray disc states regions A/B/C - All the special features play perfect but the film itself just won't play properly - it's a blank screen (the soundtrack is there though). My blu ray player won't let the running time go no further than 00.02s. I've also tried the scene selection and it just won't have it. I've also updated my player but alas no difference.

Will be sending back very soon. It's maybe just a one-off disc but thought I'd give the heads up about my experience with my first disc that won't play.

Just checked my EiV Dark City and it plays fine. I can't remember when I got it but it was before 2011. Either I got a decent batch or it's got a bit of time left.

Oof, that's a really hard disc to find and I know people have paid top dollar for it to get the director's cut, so that's a really bad one to be failing.
My copy of Crank 2 is the only one I've found that has failed. I grabbed a cheap iTunes copy as a replacement but it doesn't have the extras.

I have only had 2 discs (in 20 yrs) so far...Never Say Never Again & Zombie Holocaust. Both stopped playing, ZH went all "cloudy" -was that disc rot?

My EIV BD of Halloween 2 has packed up too. I replaced it with a cheap US BD which is perfect.

My US disc still plays fine if that helps. Only downside is the awful transfer.

Some US discs have been known to fail but not that one as far as I know.

Yeah, the theatrical cut got a German release with more grain but no luck for the Director's Cut. The theatrical cut was out on DVD early on in the format, and the same with blu-ray, so I was hoping we'd see this get a nice UHD by now. Both versions, with the commentaries by Ebert, and proper grain. Still no luck sadly.

so is there a list of EiV titles with known issues? I have a few of theirs, and it looks as if I'm going to have to make a pass through them all

All copies of Crank 2 will probably be dead. I've tried to rebuy a sealed one to replace my dead copy and the new one was dead too lmao I just grabbed a DVD.
