So with this release, it would seem the only title missing in 4K from the Alfred Hitchcock Ultimate Collection is North By Northwest, which was on loan to Uni from WB for inclusion in that box set. Surely WB is prepping their own 4K of that single release to coincide with their 100th Anniversary this year?

Excited to pick up the remaining titles I'm interested in! Universal has been killing it with these.

Though maybe not this year for WB's 100th, but rather next year for the film's 65th.

My understanding is this year Warner are concentrating on films that were always WB rather than acquisitions like RKO and pre-86 MGM. Next year is MGM’s 100th so there was some speculation/wishful thinking that WB could celebrate that with releases from it’s MGM library.

Hopefully we get other classic MGM titles like Ben Hur too though frankly I don’t give a damn if we get Gone with the Wind.

Hard to believe all 14 Universal Hitchcocks will be on UHD before North by Northwest.

And that's the sound of me putting the 15-disc Blu Masterpiece Collection on eBay.

No doubt Warner will do UHDs of North by Northwest and Strangers on a Train before long. Paramount will likely do To Catch a Thief at some point. And The Paradine Case is the only Selznick (owned by Disney) without a 4K restoration now.

No thanks if it's based on that botched 4K restoration done a couple of years ago, the earlier bluray is still the way to go here.

Question Anyone else here had the same experience I had?

RE: Alfred Hitchcock 4K Classics Collections.

Hi guys I have owned the first 2 sets quite awhile and recently I picked up a brand new sealed copy of Volume 3 off eBay. It arrived the other day and it had been crushed a bit. I contacted the seller and told them about the damage and said i'd settle for a $10+ dollar refund for the damage and the seller asked me to open it and check the discs for damage. Well I opened the package and it started out find but a few pages in revealed there were a few missing discs, that was until I lifted up the box and a few discs started to come out the bottom of the case. I did not remember if you could pull the discs out from anywhere else besides the opening on the first 2 Volumes. I checked and sure enough, this is the case. I am so glad the seller asked me to open the case before I settled on a $10 refund. I contacted the seller with my results, along with a few pictures and they refunded my money 100% and told me to keep it. I have since purchased a 10 disc Viva Elite case for the discs. I am just curious if anyone here has seen this type of defective Alfred Hitchcock 4K Collections case?

pics....

I just ordered all three of these sets for $111 from GRUV. That comes out to about $7.93 for each film.

Why does universal give the Hitchcock 4ks individual releases on day 1 but not the universal monster 4k sets? Shouldn't those in theory sell more than lesser known hitchcock films? Gonna be sad if they don't give Bride of Frankenstein 4k a standalone.

I’d think there is a larger market for Hitchcock than Universal Monsters, fans of cinema vs fans of monster movies? I think Hitchcock wins that battle on sales. I do love Dracula, Mummy, and creature from the Black Lagoon. For me it’s 3 monster films and all of Hitchcock’s films on the highest quality physical releases available.

Amazing! Was wondering if Vol. 2 sold enough to justify a third, obviously it did

I think Universal always had plans to release all of the Hitchcock films they have rights to. But they chose to issues the 4k titles in waves instead of all at once.
