Saw this opening weekend and not just a great movie, but this is going to be a reference disc. Shot in 6.5K on the Arri Alexa by Rodrigo Prieto with a true 4K DI. Almost fooled me into thinking it was shot on 65mm.

Default Comparing Barbie Steelbooks to be released around the world (and the number of discs

Hey guys! I come in search of information, but I apologize in advance for my mistakes in English and for my ignorance on the subject, after all I am not a collector.
I'm Brazilian and since Warner no longer distributes movies on physical media here, I wanted to guarantee the best possible version of Barbie, in this case the 4K Steelbook. I almost didn't buy it on Amazon.co.uk, but it sold out very quickly and yesterday I already secured a unit of the same Italian version (with the advantage of being a language closer to Portuguese, but that was irrelevant for the decision).
Today via Blu-ray.com I was comparing the Steelbook versions of this movie that will be released around the world.
- In Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark the steelbook will come with two discs. Only the Finnish cover was released (the same pink cover with the look of a suitcase), but the edition for those countries will be produced by SF Studios and I imagine it will be the same product altogether
(i.e. same cover).
- The Australian steelbook will be released by Roadshow Entertainment, it will have the same graphic art as the cover of Barbie the Album and I couldn't find out the number of discs.
- Countries like Italy, France, Germany and the United Kingdom will have the steelbook with the same pink cover imitating a travel bag, however, unlike the first Nordic countries listed, all editions of the latter (not only the steelbooks but the normal Blu-rays , 4K without steelbook and 4K with steelbook) will come with 1 disc. Apparently, France and the United Kingdom will have at least two steelbook versions each (in the case of France, the trunk cover will be exclusive to FNAC. The other steelbook will come out with Barbie sitting on Ken's shoulder. In the case of the United Kingdom, however, , or they are preparing a second steelbook or there was an error on Amazon.co.uk, as many comments are about the movie Barbie Rapunzel). And it doesn't seem to be a second edition of the first sold out, since the products have different release dates. Anyway, I send the link to the two items below.
The fact is that the difference in the number of discs caught my attention, along with the fact that it was related to the distributor. Steelbooks that will come out from Warner always feature only one disc. Is this preferred by local manufacturers/distributors?
Thanks.

In Dolby Cinema this one looked utterly spectacular! The new regular laser installs are quite good but man this one just looked noticeably better in Dolby Cinema (I dodn't even always like the DC grades, not for the SW films at least, and sometimes they look a touch less filmic, but for this just looked perfection and with my local DC having a 1.78:1, tall, screen man it was just towering in 1.85 with no side boxing needed. This could be a helluva reference disc, maybe THE reference. Thankfully it is getting UHD as the last potential reference contenders got no UHD! (Last Christmas was insanely crisp and detailed, would have knocked off even Passengers I think).

And wow has my theater been packing it in! Largest seating auditoriums still 99% sold out for Mond, Tues. Wed night this week still. If this thing had had the IMAX screens too plus been able to keep at least one premium screen (with the way higher prices) can only imagine the insane box office take, probably at least 20% higher on everything so far. I liked the film, some of those goofers like Ben, are either purposely misinterpreting everything in desperation for clicks or have so numbed their minds they can't even think anymore. Sure a few things have a bit of a woman's take slant and it is not quite 100.00% balanced (but I mean it IS Barbie don't forget so....), but it's not remotely what they say and they are seeing a lot of scenes entirely backwards and just totally misinterpreting stuff (sometimes I bet on purpose just to try to drive cheap clicks and boost their ranting channels/shows/etc.), getting so many things wrong, it's really a very reasonable take on things if you really follow it carefully and take it in properly, pretty deeply layered, lots of double or more meanings/representations to almost everything. But I mean just peek for 30 seconds at the start of some of those 'reviews' and they basically every last sentence gets every last thing 100% objectively incorrect, never mind the subjective stuff. Even stuff that actually goes a touch more towards their line of thinking they read totally incorrectly heh. Very well made, nice to see some nice, bright colors in a film again for once too, fun, moving at times, actually can be hard to catch all the finer little points on the first viewing. I really loved it. Hope it gets Oscars action.

Weird no US steelbook or special edition sets or anything mentioned yet.
But they tend to do barely do anything UHD in the US unless it is pure action flick. Some 4k DCP have not even gotten a UHD (like said director's last film!) much less steelbooks, etc.

Yeah, I'm perfectly okay with someone not making an effort to find a middle ground between "sexual assault is good" and "sexual assault is bad".

Which is perfectly fine, as steelbooks and special edition sets are incredibly silly.

how the heck do you come back with that from anything I said??
and way to selectively quote for incorrect contextual implications on top, never even minding what you are going on with your response.... also a bit ironic, if you actually paid attention to all of the movies various little messages

Wal-Mart

I was going to wait awhile before ordering this but I could not resist the US 4K set for $29.96 @Walmart. I can always return it if something else comes up that I would rather have.

When I looked at that Walmart listing, appears to be just a 4K UHD + Digital.
No bluray disc. So, hope the extras are all included on the 4K disc?

Was going to preorder this today, but wow, that's expensive for a 4k disk only standard release. Guess I'll have to wait on this one. Is it only because of how popular it is? I assume closer to the holidays it'll go down a lot, I hope.

I am sure nothing is set is stone just yet however Walmart showed me a release date of March 2024. That date is probably not yet set in stone yet either. But for now, March 24 is quite a long ways off.

To tell you the truth, I grew up in the 1970s and every girl I knew had a Barbie or ~4. Back then there was no internet, us kids had our toys and each other. I had my Tonka Toys and a sandbox and every now and again I'd "borrow" a Barbie and bring her in the action in my sandbox. That sandbox was therapy for me, just like Barbie was therapy for the girls.

Anyways, I am betting that my age group is the reason this film is doing so well. To me it only makes sense that Matell would release a 4K version with a Barbie and Ken doll. Id pay a few hundred for such a set with no sweat. But for now I will leave that $29.xx order alone and hope for something better. Oh and I'd bet a Blu-ray will indeed be included. I am sure crazy success of this film has throw the studios and everything out of whack and again, nothing is set in stone just yet.

Even if Matell had no say in the Blu-ray releases of this film, Id still buy a Barbie and Ken doll that were based on the actors in this film. I hope Matell can see what I am seeing.
