30+ bucks for a Blu-ray? I feel "we" are being cheated here. Since Surviving the game has not been released in High Definition this has to be a new scan, presumeably of the OCN and in 4K. Anything less would be an "insult" in 2023. 2K scan would be ok-ish too, but should lower the price drastically.
So why should I pay 30+ bucks for a Blu-ray when an UHD costs the same or less? Yes, I love the movie and I've been waiting for it to be released for years, but a 30+$ BD is so out of date nowadays. Will pass and wait for the native 4K UHD (sames goes for Ghost and the darkness). |

Which will be 30€ or more after I've imported it since I am living in GER. Of course that's my problem in the end, but still... I think it's overpriced and quite out of date in 2023 (almost 2024) to release a movie just on BD, if clearly you have the means, tools, source, etc. to have it released on UHD as well. Take 25$ now for the BD and in two or three years another 30$ for the UHD. Of course thats buisness, but as a fan of that movie and Shout! I feel bullshitted.

The constant yammering on these forums about the price for this and that, what someone is willing to pay for this or that, what some business should be charging for this or that, how some business is making someone purchase a Blu-ray now, then making them purchase the UHD later, seriously? It's all quite ridiculous if you ask me. The dripping sense of entitlement and portrayal of one's self as a victim that often accompanies said yammering makes it even more ridiculous and all over entertainment no less.
That being said, here's my take not that anyone is asking. No one was put on this Earth to entertain me. No company is obligated to offer a good or service at a price I find acceptable. I didn't raise the capital. I didn't make the investments. I didn't take all the risk. I didn't put the work in. Operating costs can change over time. Revenue streams will ebb and flow. I want these boutique labels to be around for a long time which is why I'm more than happy to add to their bottom line when I can afford to. When I can't afford to or otherwise choose not to I just do without and when I do without no one on the Internet needs to know about it. Okay, I'm stepping off my soapbox now. The yammering may resume. Last edited by AmishParadise; 09-08-2023 at 10:29 AM. |

![]() Blu-ray version of the DVD snapper case... ![]() (Click on the preview image above to view the full size image.) Shout! Factory friendly version... ![]() (Click on the preview image above to view the full size image.) To learn more about the above cover art see my post here. Once I receive my copy of the Shout! release I'll be revisiting the alternate version shown above giving the back portion the full Shout! treatment. ![]() Last edited by AmishParadise; 09-09-2023 at 07:08 AM. |

I've been chained to my desk here for the past couple hours with not much work to speak of so I decided just for fun to create a Shout Select template. Of course I had to test the template out on "Surviving the Game" at that point. End result shown below which I'll be updating once Shout! Factory reveals what special features they plan to include with their release.
![]() ![]() (Click on the preview image above to view a larger version.) My template does include the Shout Select banner that's runs from the spine into the front portion towards the bottom. I decided not to include it in this case, but did go with full color logos this time around, both on the spine and back portion, the back portion mirroring a Shout Select title. As as an added touch I included a picture of the Pacific Northwest in the background. ![]() Last edited by AmishParadise; 09-11-2023 at 10:00 PM. |
