This is listed on the B&N site for their yearly 50% off sale.

However, when you click through to your basket, you'll see it's only 30% off.

That's misleading and false advertising. Go back to the main page and it clearly states 50% off titles, and this is listed as one of them.

I went down to the local B&N and showed them this. They do claim that the "half off" is for any in stock AND also for preorder, but only if the release date for that preorder is within the half-off sales period (12/4, but Pinocchio releases on 12/5).

I pointed out that if that were the case, the Criterion half-off page should not list this title (there are others listed on that page that do not qualify).

They let me order it for half price. I highly recommend that you do the same. Fair is fair and I'm willing to say "I wish this part of your half-off sale, but I see it is not", but that misleading page clearly lists it as half-off.

I am guessing that a fair number of folk (enough) add it to the their basket with other items and don't notice the discrepancy.

Teach them not to use this misleading tactic: go down to your local store and demand half-off. I also got a box set for half-off that was errantly listed on that page. If it was an honest mistake, they'll learn about that too.

Unfortunately releases after the sales are never honored for their Criterion sales and Barnes & Nobles website has already corrected the pricing error.

It’s too bad the reviewer didn’t enjoy this darker take on Pinocchio. I absolutely loved it when I watched it, and I really wasn’t expecting to enjoy it so much. Exciting to hear the technical merits are amazing though.

Never cared for opinions about the movies on home media reviews (or theater releases). It's all about the technical side of it.

So glad the 4K is gorgeous!

I agree with most everything Atanasov says about this movie. I didn't like it either. I like Garrone's Pinocchio a lot more. But at least it isn't as bad as the Tom Hanks movie... There certainly is no shortage of Pinocchio films!

As a kid I grew up watching my VHS of the live-action version with Jonathan Taylor Thomas lol. It’s as if many people don’t even know about that one.

Why does the site assign the Dr left-leaning movies knowing by now he will oppose any kind of social message?

He always gets the Criterions. A "3.0" is a little low, should be at least a "4.0," even if it's not your cup of tea, it's still a great animated film; not everything hit for me, but at least it's so definitely Del Torro that the minor quibbles I have with it are not a big deal.

Also, I obviously haven't had a chance to view the special features yet, but from the listed features it shows it should be rated "4.5" for special features, if not a "5.0."

The extras are good, but less extensive than what you'd expect for a Criterion release. But still probably decent and better than what most studios put these days for a new movie. A commentary would've rounded it up.

Not always true, sometimes he just completely misses the point.

My dad LOVES this movie, I’m excited to be able to get it for him for Christmas.

I actually haven’t seen it lol but maybe he’ll let me borrow it or get together for a movie night.

At this point it's become some kind of sad joke. I go straight to the technical scores and don't even bother reading the synopsis as soon as I see his name as the reviewer. Even those I take with a grain of salt.

Even the technical scores I can't trust half the time. If it doesn't look like how it did on the blu-ray he first saw the movie on then it's revisionist without any thought that maybe the original blu-ray was actually revisionist
