What's wrong with Rocky II?

There's nothing "wrong" with it, it's just those other three are the only ones I was interested in upgrading to 4K.

Hoping someone does single release steels like with the first set because I'm really only interested in Balboa.

I was happy to have purchased the the first released set. I hope they fix the audio mix of Rocky II, I couldn't sit through that 4K while everyone sounds like they're drunk. If they don't, I will purchase Rocky II on Blu-ray again.

I'm glad this set is being released and I'll buy it day one, I miss seeing these movies.

The editing on the whole didn't bother me. I really want him to go back to the 1.85:1 ratio as intended. Why he went to 2.40:1 is beyond me. Let 1.85:1 be the Rocky ratio and the 2.40:1 be the Creed ratio.

I actually prefer Rocky vs Drago as a movie over the original, but yes, cropping it to scope was not a good look given how it was originally composed. It should have been left at 1.85.

I've heard speculation that it was done in that AR to hide a few bloopers (you can see the main cameras used for the film being held by the crew throughout the entire final fight, as well as one shot during the montage that's supposed to be like round 12-13, but Dolph's hair is still coiffed like it's the first or second round)) and to hide the logo on their sweaters during the James Brown segment (the ad on Apollo's tv when he's in the pool with his dogs is gone too).

I've seen some edits some people have done to try to make a "best of both worlds" edit, but the new AR AND color timing makes it infinitely harder.

Since the beginning of this entire series the idea was to hide the actual movie cameras in plain sight during the fights, I mean how many people watching would have even the slightest inkling that they weren't news reporters or whatever? So that's a non-issue IMO.

Eager beaver I'd say. I can do a Geoff here since I've still never seen any Rocky movie. Didn't prevent me from bothering Universal re. fixing the steels when I first bought these. And you can add all of the Creeds just waiting on my shelf to be watched as well.

I asked Warner Home Video about the audio issue (for Rocky I).

Here's their comment:

"The disc has been updated to correctly include the 2.0 Mono original audio. This will not be released as a standalone disc."

Upcoming set will be fixed then. If you're in the US and only want a replacement for your current set, you should contact WHV.

There was, supposedly a lot of issues with the discs, not inheretly just. The whole box had issues in almost all the movies, lol.

I'm glad at least one of them will be fixed, but.. Please don't tell me they'll only fix that. I do believe the dub audios had pitch issues too and won't fix them.

Pity they can't unf*ck the compression while they're at it

Did you ask them about fixing Rocky II's audio?

Wouldn't that be half assed to fix the first and not the second. I would expect such though I hope I'm wrong. I didn't pick up the first set as it was obvious this was coming.

Oh, now it will be very interesting what Universal/Warner Germany has to say about that.

Email to Universal Germany will be on its way soon. And I think I will also return my opened German copies then after all. And I will also see if that actually works then...

And never again will I buy anything from Universal Germany. That's a promise.

i dont really like the last two but for people that do its great this is finally happening. Especially with the fixed mono track on the first movie. I may prefer the late 90s dvd/laserdsic ac3 track/the dts dvd track due to less loud music mixing but man the original track always needs to be included!

Typical, typical Warner. Guess I'll have to merge, meld and mingle my own corrected releases the way I did with the Mad Max films. Warner might be getting a lot of open returns from retailers
