Oh I dunno — I think a bit of manual TLC and depth adjustment will always be ideal, no matter how good the software gets, plus, your Platinum Editions are desirable collector’s items, and there’s always a market for collector’s items!

All four discs arrived today so I look forward to checking them out later. I have opened them up for condition inspection (I'm still grumpy about my Nightmare Castle replacement disc coming with a big scratch) and was happy to find no more than a smudge.

My initial thoughts are that I find the public domain-style sleeves and fonts quite charming. I did note however that the shorts have runtimes listed on the back but the movies don't. I often plan my viewing by how long a movie is and don't want to have to put the disc in to check the runtime so that's my only improvement suggestion for the future, some stats on the back would be appreciated - runtime, aspect ratio etc. Year of release/production at least is covered in the write-ups

The only one of this initial batch that I have any recollection of watching in 2D is Un Chien Andalou and it's that and the other shorts I am most curious about though the movies I expect I will enjoy the most.

I don't think you have anything to worry about just yet, AI conversions without manual input are not much of a step up from an autoconversion but it's one of these areas where things can change very quickly.

Interested to see if your thoughts on Brain and Devil’s Hand differ from mine on the previous page. Nothing like native, but I was impressed with The Brain That Wouldn’t Die. And who couldn’t love that title.

Good feedback. We'll try to include more of those details in next batch, or maybe the one after as the next batch are already quite far on.

Will "The Brain That Wouldn’t Die" also be available digitally?
Can't find it in the store beside all other also digitally available Plan D titles.

I don't have any plans for a digital copy at this time. The current digital sales process involves manual efforts that Andrew handles and I just don't have the bandwidth to manage more workload. For the foreseeable future my Plan D releases will likely be Blu-Ray exclusive.

Looking forward to checking out The Brain That Wouldn't Die tonight - ordered 07/07 and arrived safely and quicker than expected today in Switzerland in a bubble mailer.
Thanks a lot, Phil3D!

I'd been traveling and just now had an opportunity to watch Brain That Wouldn't Die.

To my EyePop friends: Gents, you guys just keep getting better and better. While I'd gotten a flavor of course from the trailer you'd posted, I was nevertheless pleasantly surprised by the depth and separation. Kudos.

If this is what you're capable of in a streamlined fashion, keep 'em coming! Bring on Phantom Planet and Frankenstein's Daughter...and as many more as you can manage!

Bought & received this today and sorry for a dumb question.
I see that all the discs look like burnt & not genuine. may be its meant to look this way?

Yes, they are BD-R discs so will have dark playing surfaces.

Every release on such a disc has [BD-R] in the thread title.

Due to the low quantities produced, and to attempt to keep final prices as reasonable as possible these discs are produced using a disc-on-demand provider.

Pressed discs are only really financially viable for quantities above 1000 units and sadly the market for this isn't at, or anywhere near, that level.

Thanks - such great feedback really does make a lot of this worthwhile.

I think we're still at the experimental stage of Plan-D, we'll need to see how things go beyond our initial planned release titles.

Thank you for your swift response in clarifying this. Asked this because everytime i buy a blu-ray disc, people tell me about genuine Vs fake discs etc. and really not sure so asked.
Otherwise I am really happy with those 3 purchases as shipping was pretty fast honestly and now I am going to order more.

First of all, again I'm super pleased to see the positive feedback for The Brain That Wouldn't Die! It really was a fairly substantial effort to convert so its great to see people enjoying it.

With that said and without going into great detail I'd like to warn people about potential bootleg copies of our conversions showing up on eBay. We are currently investigating to verify but several of our recently converted films have mysteriously been listed as 3D releases by an unauthorized eBay seller.

We'll probably add some more clarity later but for now if the listing looks even remotely suspicious, particularly if there is no mention of EYEPOP/AIPOP/Plan D and you don't see pictures of our correct retail packaging it's a pirated fake.

I have recently listed The Brain That Wouldn't Die on eBay and this is the only correct listing (sorry for the plain text, not sure if I can post links yet):

Code:

Watched Devil's Hand and Conversion Curiosities. Un Chien Andalou looks like it was filmed for 3D. Another great job, guys!

Thanks for the feedback - I know my taste is a little more niche but I was so pleased with how the Conversion Curiosities conversion came out I really want everyone to see it!

The one positive of it being somewhat uncommercial is it's unlikely to be pirated! (See Phil's post above).

I just need to check in with Phil but hopefully we'll be announcing a couple more Plan-D titles pretty soon.

Tommy Boy 3D has just dropped a review for The Brain That Wouldn't Die 3D.

Really stoked that not only did he think the 3D was great, but he really enjoyed the movie!

Andrew's posted a new youtube video to announce the Horror Express drawing winner. More importantly to folks watching this thread, there are new Plan D title announcements!

Both titles are available now directly through the site: https://www.aipop-3d.com/plan-d

FYI for people looking to buy both my releases together (The Brain That Wouldn't Die and Gammera), I'm hoping to have an eBay two movie bundle next week that'll offer a decent savings over buying individually.
