this was quite a laugh riot--- the vampire runs around the entire movie mugging into the camera and hissing... and yet does practically nothing to harm anyone! He has numerous scenes with a pitchfork (?!) threatening damsels in distress.... but never runs them through! The grand finale is especially hilarious...

I just got the first All the Haunts Be Ours set in August, and I'm going to attempt to get through it in advance of the release of Volume 2. Crazy impressed with it so far. All 3 discs I've checked out have had numerous interesting features in addition to the movies. Really glad I finally picked it up, looking forward to Volume 2 despite only being 3 discs in on the first one!

What's up everybody! I Hope you all have a blast this Halloween season.
It was a tough choice between "The Thing" and "The Evil Dead", but my vote went to The Evil Dead. It might possibly be my favorite horror movie due to its creativeness and atmosphere.
I'm excited to get this spooky season started. I've been picking up a lot of horror titles that I've never watched throughout the year and I've been saving them for the spooky season.

Kids vs Aliens (2022)

Pretty straightforward--kids are busy doing kids stuff (by which I mean they're mostly being picked on by psychotic teenagers), but are interrupted by psychotic aliens who need human skin to run their spaceships.

From the director of Hobo With a Shotgun, which I only saw once but remember being enamored by how gory and batsh*t crazy it was, despite the prevailing problem of bloating up something that was a simple short to begin with (but what the heck, this same issue happens with Fried Barry and other things too). I figured KvA would be the same kind of insane gorefest, and it generally aims to be. But I believe this was also a short film that was blown up to a full-length movie, so it definitely strains to sustain a whole story with padding and filler. It doesn't help that most of it is unbecoming. The kids themselves seem to scream all their dialogue, so they're annoying. The teenagers are some of the most bullheadedly psychotic bullies I've seen since IT--thanks, I hate them.

In fact, I got a little peeved as the bullies' behavior was cheered and encouraged during the big party scene. I get it though--teens in groups do become stupid and violent. In this setting though, in these circumstances, it just seemed extra stupid. Like how the kid in The Purge was stupid for thinking that killing a girl's father would make her like him--I get the same vibes out of this. While this whole scene is deescalated quickly by a literal alien invasion, the main bully

, and I can't help but to hate the whole thing because of it. What the hell is wrong with these people?

At any rate, the aliens themselves are creepy, sure. The scenes on their ships, where orange slime is dumped on abductees that melts their skin off, is effectively horrifying. Everything else leaves much to be desired, though . Sure, the kids manage to succeed in the end, before a laughable sequel-bait scene finishes off the movie, but actual action and gore fail to impress. The production is a bit on the cheap side, using mostly lighting effects and rubbery costumes to get the job done--sure, this production is better than, say, Phantom From Space, but it ain't no Invaders From Mars either. KvA looks a little garish at times though with all the neon-colored costumes they wear.

In the end, this film only goes so far, but I wish it had gone over-the-top all Grindhouse style.

I suppose Night Stalker/Strangler, both Nightmare Alleys, and Constantine could appease both months, but otherwise choices are sparse. We need more horror/noir films out there.

I tried doing this back in 2020 before I got back into collecting physical media, I remember streaming the Scream series thinking to myself "I wish I owned these on DVD and damn I miss the video store era."

And a year later I got back into collecting movies, and now I own the first three Scream movies on 4k! Looking forward for this years 31 days of horror, I've got a bunch of movies stocked up and ready!

Anywho, I am starting September off with a bunch of "holdovers" and mainly new(er) 2024 releases. I first picked Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey II - I love these cheesy, silly movies.. part of me does wonder with more of a budget and big names what they actually could do but I will say there was an improvement on this one over the original. It seemed to be an actual story now, that is sort of interesting play on the OG Winnie The Pooh. Some interesting kills and gore... and setting up for part 3 (or apparently an Avengers like spoof movie with other Disney characters?) - Honestly though, there was something endearing about the first part in just how low budget it was LOL...
