They usually do but I don't think they always do. I've gotten emails with tracking numbers but I think I've also had to log into the site and check my orders. Keep in mind that the slower open is sent using SF Express, which uses USPS for the "last mile." You can track up until the package arrives in the US, and then you just have to wait. They don't send you the USPS tracking number.

Got my copy today, the PQ an SQ are pretty good, I can't find any Japanese UHD or BD recently so cannot compare.

I’ll be posting a ton about it once my copy arrives (shipped today as well). Full audio comparison in the future as well.

If there's anyone from Germany or EU who ordered this - please share your feedback re. shipping, customs, packaging etc. I'm still nervous about ordering at buyoyo. Sorry if this question is bothersome but I'd appreciate it. Thank you!

I've used the fast option. But maybe they need some time to send out emails with tracking info. I just saw in my account that the order was shipped.
Also, I'm in Germany, most likely it will be delivered with DHL then.

Wow, $91.54 US dollars for one UHD?! Yeah, I’ll have to miss out on this one, unfortunately.

Just so many other titles to get and my wallet needs to choose its battles!

FWIW, Disk Kino's box sets are always really nice. I'm not a fan of the high prices myself - they almost never re-release the box sets in simpler packaging - but at least you get really nice releases that look and feel great.

That said, I get it. I got mine for cheaper but only because I could take advantage of bulk shipping. Short of flying to Hong Kong or mainland China, you're not going to get these sets for particularly cheap prices.

Might be the only chance we get a halfway decent release of this in 4K. I didn't waste any time ordering.

Looking forward to your impressions of this release before I plunk down a hundred dollars on this thing. Thank you in advance.

Does anyone know what it might be that makes this 4K release unique? In other words, has anything been revealed about it which would lead one to believe that it'll be a sizeable improvement over the prior 4k release?

Not being a contrarian for the sake of it. Genuinely asking...thanks.

If my memory is correct, the JP version doesn't has DV or Atmos (Cantonese only).

Received my copy today and happy so far. And look, I know this set is obviously not worth the $90 it cost me, but there may not be any better options to own this in 4k in the future, so I wasn't going to pass up the chance to own this classic.

I don't own the Japanese 4k release to compare that (because I knew it didn't have English subtitles), however I do have the 4k Dolby Vision version on Apple and I know comparing this to a streaming release isn't going to be super helpful, I can at least confirm, the new color grading is much more pleasing to the eye than the Apple version. That one still had the typical piss-yellow color grading, while this actually looks like it was likely intended (white shirts and white walls register as white, not off white or yellowish). This release also looked sharper to me, but that could just be my internet connection messing with me on the streaming copy.

The big highlight for me, though, is the inclusion of the original mono. Both the Apple version and this release include Dolby Atmos, but I honestly think that sounds like crap. The voices just seem like they stem from a low quality source, while the mono sounded clear and crisp. I'd need to watch the full movie to weigh in more on this.

I also should highlight the shipping for this was phenomenal. I didn't know what to expect from buyoyo, but they shipped it in a massive box with foam cut to hold this in place (edit: I took another look at the box and it seems part of the actual release and not specific to buyoyo). The outer slipbox is very nice looking, though I wish it included the title in English on the spine with the Chinese text, considering the scanavo case art does have both on the spine. Sadly, the art for that case is a bit lacking. It's reversible, but neither uses original poster art (or art that I even would associate with the film). I took a quick glance at the goodies as well which seem to be a poster, art cards and a book of photos. Nothing amazing, but nice if you're a collector and a fan like me. I haven't checked out the special features yet, but the John Woo masterclass sounded like the only really appealing piece.

So yeah, overall, I can say this is likely the best option available right now. The price is extreme, but unless they come out with a far cheaper basic version, if you love this film, I don't think you can go wrong with this.

I had hoped the Dolby Atmos was good, but I will test it myself when I get it. Thanks you so far.

Thank you for the review! Is this scrubbed of grain, or does it look fairly natural? Is there much in the way of HDR, improved color depth/saturation etc?
