I too have sold my DVD's. I probably had invested over a grand in Criterion discs alone. I'm sure since Criterion prides themselves on giving you the best possible transfers there are they should be jumping on the Blu ship soon. Call me crazy but I like to have the best and if that means I have to re buy a disc 4 to 5 times, I probably will.

Last couple nights I watched regular dvds of Indiana Jones and Predator. The color just seems so lifeless compared to bd. Also not as sharp. How can people say they can't tell the difference. Its night and day.

I'm in the same boat. I hate SD DVD. My wife is always renting them and I refuse to watch them unless we watch them in the bedroom on the old CRT. She says she can't tell the difference. I say she needs to go to the eye doctor!!

I'll still watch vintage Kung-Fu movies on standard DVD. I've got so many titles I'll need to convert to Blu, I just decided to keep most on standard DVD until Blu becomes mainstream and the discs can be had at bargain bin prices. I knew I shouldn't have listened to my wife when she told me to toss out all my DVD cases and store all our DVDs in CD/DVD albums for the sake of saving space. Now I can't sell dem sum *****es.

Yes Standard DVD's are showing their age and I still watch my DVD's when I get the urge to. I am not going to turn my nose up at them. But I will be buying blu rays instead of DVD's from now on that's for sure

The only dvds I buy now are TV box sets. It's going to be pretty expensive replacing them on Blu.

hard to believe that at one time most of us thought DVD PQ was incredible, I really can't watch SD-DVD anymore. The only time I do, is when I have no choice, IE Star Wars and Star Trek.

Ditto! Once I caught how amazing the picture was—even MORESO with uncompressed sound—I spit in the direction of my vast DVD collection! Well, maybe not spit . . . but I did cut them some seriously dirty looks. They knew the luv was gone. Trust me . . . they knew . . .

I can't upconvert on my BD player because I use HD component cable. But I have Panasonic upconverting DVD player on my other TV and I'm OK with the quality it provides. But just OK with it. Don't like watching regular DVD without upconversion.

Not to mention the standard definition digital channels could use an upconversion boost themself.

I'm going to rent American Gangster on sdvd from BlockBuster tomorrow and that may very well be the last sdvd I ever watch.

Just being realistic, I can't afford to buy everything in blu and renting in blu still takes too long a wait time. So for new releases, I rent them in SD and then if they are good enough to watch again, I wait for a blu sale.

I can tolerate up-converted DVDs, when they're anamorphic enhanced and well authored. But they do pale in comparison quite drastically to native 1080p/24 on Blu-ray Disc.

One thing is certain: I am not buying or renting standard definition DVDs anymore. At least to that degree I am very spoiled to the quality of Blu-ray already. I also intend to sell DVDs in my colleciton that I buy again on Blu-ray.
