I understand why, but the lack of either version of the "Carly's Song" music video stings. Enigma is one of my all-timers, but Michael Cretu makes those licensing costs outrageous.

That said, F*** YEAH. Maybe the sleaziest of the '90s erotic thrillers outside of Basic Instinct, with a killer soundtrack, an incomprehensible final act, and, at LONG LAST, the objectification of a male body in a slasher that shows the goods!

Sigh, that classic '90s warmth is going to look spectacular...

Vinegar Syndrome, after this, Femme, Congo, and Goodbar, you are on my good list!
That trailer is actually pretty good. Kind of ridiculous that they used the Basic Instinct theme but apart from that. I liked the ending bit: the view from the outside is nothing compared to the view inside.
Now can someone scan in HD the theatrical trailer of A Kiss Before Dying please? Thank you.

Haha, right on the money there Phil. Kinda crazy how lightning fast I ordered the limited edition considering this so-called erotic thriller's quality. The "erotic" sex scenes are laughably ridiculous and as a "thriller" it's a damp squib. Great setup and first half or so then goes right in the crapper by the end. A shame. (I remember at my screening one audience member shouting "Get a life?!" at the screen as the end credits rolled.) And yet . . . it's peak Stone and just so of its era. Nuff said.

Too bad about the original ending not being included among the extras but the real draw of this release for me is the Noyce interview. Figured he would've completely washed his hands of this debacle of a production but glad to see we can get his side of it 30 years on. And of course always a pleasure to hear from Eszterhas. The piece he did for Indicator's Jagged Edge SE was a hoot. (By the way the best account of Sliver's production I've seen is in Eszterhas' memoir "Hollywood Animal" which I HIGHLY recommend. As both a Hollywood expose and a personal history it's phenomenal. In fact I think I'll pull out my copy and re-read the Sliver section in advance of revisiting the movie.) Will also be interesting to see how Colleen Camp's looking these days as I think the last I saw her was in Die Hard With A Vengeance. Had forgotten she was in this.

Plus I'm in love with that limited edition packaging. Thank you, Vinegar Syndrome! With this, Goodbar and The Keep on the way I'm verr .

Watched this tonight. It's a really nice set and a must-have if you're a fan of the film.

The interview with Philip Noyce is 32 minutes and fascinating insight into making a Hollywood film with the biggest star and screenwriter at the time. Noyce is an endearing character himself.

The interview with Colleen Camp is a hoot, especially her impressions of Robert Evans.

What about the trailer?!

Haha, can you confirm it's the theatrical, or is it actually a home video advert?

I only checked out the interviews with Philip Noyce and Colleen Camp. I will have to look at the trailer.

But I can confirm that Billy Baldwin's ass in 4K is absolutely glorious.

All the information I needed regarding this, thanks.
One of my favorite male butts in cinema.

Did you check the interview with Joe Eszterhas as well? He always shredded this film to pieces everytime he mentioned it, can't wait to see what he has to say.

Does the transfer look as teal as the screen shots on Vin Syn?

Phillip Noyce supervised the transfer. Unfortunately, the great cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond has been dead for many years so who knows how accurate the transfer will be.

Phillip Noyce supervised the restoration, so that’s likely on him.

result is a tealvisty

Jokingly (and not) I think sometimes these labels need to just say oh thanks for the approval and correct it and release it.

Chances are Noyce has a badly calibrated set up and it will like trash to him either way. Haha

Dear ****ing God, haven't we learnt anything from past examples?

Turns out, many movies shot on 35mm happen to actually more teal than we're used to from old masters made for VHS, DVD and (early) HD.

This might very well be another such case.

Noyce did supervise and asked for tweaks to it… based on the Disc Connected podcast they kind of mention it but not teal… but basically they let him do what he wanted

So i guess it, is what it is.

The screenshots look very good, natural and true to what a 1990s 35mm movie would/could look like.

One thing we can rely on with VS, irrespective of whether we always agree with their chosen level of boosted color saturation, hot skin tones, etc, is their best consistent efforts to always keep the master as filmic as possible. No excessive dnr, regraining or other digital futzery. The overall pallet though…that’s not something I’d lay solely at VS’s feet. They have no history of randomly going heavy on the cyan knob or otherwise trying to spuriously “modernize” the look of their uhd masters.

I hear all the cyan talk and I’m not detail expert but I’ve always remembered Sliver as a very “blue” movie *♂️

Maybe a few, but this sudden acceptance that most of these movies coming out with teal gradings always looked that way is a bit suspect to me. Surely if that aesthetic was so common in the day, it would be a look associated with the 70's, 80's and 90's and not feel like a modern style. I not saying this particular film is wrong, but it seems like on this board the pendulum at times swings wildy from one extreme to another.
