I laughed my ass off, it is the cheapest Blu Ray player out there at $400. If anything the PS3 is underpriced.

funny how he mentions overpriced ?

lets try to build system like this at the release of ps3 exluding the software

Tyan Motherboard with two Cpu sockets 2x amd opteron185 equal to 4 cpus @ 2.4ghz = 1150$

Geforce 7800GTX 1x = 500$

Since XDR by rambus was not available, lets go with 2GB with high performance DDR2 = 400$

Blu-ray drive = 700$

HDD = 60Gb 5400rpm 2,5" about 70$

PS3 at launch PC-without an Proper software
at = 600-700€$ All = 2820$,

PS3 Today = Uber Gaming machine and Blu-ray Media center
The PC setup = 2820$ Gamewise old stinking peace of lemon

Makes me wonder about the conclusion
"Congratulations guys, bask in your triumph. You overpaid for your PS3s"

I liked the part where he's basically saying that by supporting Blu-ray we are supporting terrorism. This person is the tool of tools. The Emperor of tools. The King of tools. The Master of the Universe of tools. It's things like this that make the internet seem like a bad idea, any idiot can spout whatever crap they want freely. This person is clearly mentally unstable and should be locked away. Forever.

You are an idiot. Newsflash, buddy, bluray disc compression is horrible. Sony wants you to THINK that you need multiple Gigabytes to store a decent looking Bluray movie. The truth is you can get just as good a picture at a fraction of the size by using a decent compression codec like h.264. We're talking 5-7% the size, and it looks exactly the same.

If I ever buy blu-ray discs, it will be so I can store my torrent movies, downloaded free because I'd rather chance jailtime than give my money to organizations like the RIAA and MPAA, who sue old people and children for insane amounts of money to "send a message about piracy."

and you know what else?

so what if I can and WANT to see bruce willis' zit or boogie hanging from his nose, makes me feel like I'm there anyway, which is the WHOLE point of HD media, to be more pristine and make your forget that you're watching a movie, it's supposed to make you feel like you're THERE, not sitting on your couch.

what an r'tard.

Sir, you are talking bollocks.

And why is it with these redants Blu-Ray = Sony. Infact wherever I read stuff about Blu-ray it's always Sony's Blu-ray? Yes they are involved but as far as I knew they are not the only company.

That has to be about the worst writing I have seen on the internet. What a rambling piece of junk. How bad must it be to resort to the "Discs are bad for the environment" argument.

Good grief!

I laughed after reading that first page......he stated how everyone OVERPAID for their PS3 and Sony laughed at everyone all the way to the bank.

Maybe he missed the fact the cost of the PS3 was more than $499 and $599. Sony took such heavy losses when it launched the PS3 that the first year it cost them billions. I seriously doubt Sony was laughing to the bank. What a stupid thing to say.

Wow, experts come out of the woodworks after the death of HD-DVD. This point of view looks rather familar........."we don't need all that storage because we can make it look EXACTLY the same as Blu-ray"

It makes me laugh just how much the guy even contradicts himself. First off he says that Downloads will Kill Blu-ray off and that having a physical disk is quaint and laughable..then he goes on to state that there's life in DVD... which one is it then pal..

You sure this is'nt written by Amir...????

This guy has a knack for calling things wrong by his admittance of the PS3 and he's simply calling it wrong again about the death of Blu-ray!

People can rant and rave about downloads all day long but truthfully, most people like packaged media.

What's funny is: You go to forums like HOCP or Extremetech and you'll see that these virulent Sony hating HD-DVD zealots who think "cheap is the best" think nothing of blowing 5 grand on super gaming PC's.

I don't think the phrase "double standard" even begins to cover it.
