Cool. I was happy with a simple extras port, so getting new extras is a nice cherry on top.

Rarewaves sent my copy today, I forgot that it was release in August, I was expecting it in September, so I am very happy, I love those Herzog/ Kinski movies.

Fitzcarraldo is m'y favorite, but there is no 4k yet, but you can preorder Nosferatu already with BFI, also in 4k.

I would be all over this if it came with a Blu-ray copy. (Not opposed to grabbing 4K stuff for future-proofing/aspirational investment but not using the format at this time [I believe there are others in this demographic]) Was already planning on grabbing the Shout but prefer the art and overall package of this release

You could just get the regular Blu-ray.

Nosferatu is a good next film.

Then follow up with the other Herzog/Kinski films (Fitzcarraldo, Cobra Verda + Woyzeck).

(But there are lots of intersting one. "Heart of Glass", "The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser", "Stroszek", "Signs of Life", "My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done?", "Lessons of Darkness", "The Wild Blue Yonder"...)

Opinions vary, but some like Enigma are some of my favourites. Cobra Verde on the other hand was hard work for me, I'm sure the behind the scenes Kinski-shaped turmoil informed the final film... Herzog could only work miracles for so long I suppose, and 1980s Kinski was at the height of his most difficult to work with period by many accounts.

For non-narrative Herzog films, Land of Silence and Darkness is one of the best documentaries ever made.

I'm a moderate Herzog obsessive so I love pretty much everything he's done (the only ones I don't like at all are Even Dwarves Started Small and Salt and Fire, which is f'ing abysmal), but my absolute top tier favourites are Fitzcarraldo (which is also one of my favourite films of all time) and The Enigma Of Kaspar Hauser.

Would love to know from anyone that has the Shout Factory and this release how the actual scan etc of the film compares.

I realise the special features vary. Just I have the BFI Herzog bluray box set, so I have the majority of these on that already. I already have the Shout Factory 4k release which i think is very good. It would only be a big jump in quality of the actual movie (scan etc) that would persuade me to double dip and get this version.

Right! For a director of Herzog's quality to have made such an absolutely stinking PoS really tests ones faith in humanity, a film that should be avoided at all costs.

Seconded. The Shout is a strong release already, so it'll take some convincing to get me to buy this. Annoying that BFI were so slow off the mark.

Hmm. With the second viewing I rather enjoyed "Salt and Fire" (2016).
It's not one of the stronger Herzog films but it has it's moments.

From his 21st century films I love "The Wild Blue Yonder" (2005) and "My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done?" (2009).

Also "Bad Lieutenant" (2009) and "Queen of the Desert" (2015) are imo easily stronger than Salt and Fire but that doesn't mean it is terrible in my eyes.

"Even Dwarfs Started Small" (1970) is imo even a strong film but there is especially one scene of animal cruelty that destroys my enjoyment of this bold and artsy early Herzog outing a lot.
