Now that I know a bit more of the backstory surrounding the artwork, perhaps it will grow on me. I really dig that Kubrick’s family worked on it and it’s perfectly fitting to have it considering that was the original choice.

I love the cover, but if Criterion was into reversible cover art, this would've been a great candidate. One side what we're getting, the other something closer to the theatrical poster/BD art. Either way, I'm looking forward to this!

This got me thinking though, whatever happened to that audio commentary Warner announced in 2007 with Sydney Pollack and Peter Loewenberg? Other than it getting dropped before release.

Awesome to see this finally upgraded! I not only like the cover, it’s a rare occurrence where I actually prefer it to the original poster. And just in time for the holidays!

It's striking artwork for sure, but I can't say i love how lo-fi and primitive-Photoshop it looks. I guess the creepiness fits the movie. Would've liked another artist to come in and refine the concept. Personally, I was hoping for the purple poster with the mirror.

Happy they got Larry Smith on to approve the master. I've seen a lot of debate over the colors. I saw a 35mm print at MOMI recently and it was very red-orange in the skin tones. The screenshots look much more neutral, but glad they actually got the DP to sign off on it. Talking about the screenshots, I know this movie is grainy, but talk about grainy AF! The clip they uploaded looks terrible with that compression. Criterion is gonna have their work cut out for them on the encode.

Yeah, the first thought I did was peek at Criterion's screenshots, and was surprised to see how balanced and naturalistic they look. If that's what Kubrick wanted, great, but it's going to take some getting used to.

It’s the title I wish they would have FiM handle.

I recognized it immediately: in the late 90s, a Brazilian movie magazine published two or three posters that had been circulating on the internet, before the movie was released, except they incorrectly labeled them all as "fan posters."

I've been watching it regularly for a good number of years now and each time it lingers in the mind for ages afterwards.

There are not many more stunning scenes in cinema than the main

. It's mesmerising in ways that are hard to describe. Gives me shivers.

Jocelyn Pook's score is incredible.

Feels like a momentous day with this announcement.
