The cover art isn't simply "based on" Katharina and Christiane's art, it is their actual one sheet art that was chosen but went unused when WB changed their mind. It's a gorgeous piece!

Sad there's no interview or anything with Leon Vitali, even archival, he was prepping this restoration and still presenting the film at screenings up to his death
